Description
Not only was this article written by a woman, and in Texas, but she has two teenage sons who are fans of the show and apparently doesn’t think of them as “manly.”
Seriously?
Seriously?
Texas is garbage and full of complete morons. ’Nuff said.
without the AFB there…the town would be nothing.
it’s worse than you think
this is the Texas Republican party’s actual platform.
At least we’re not…Oklahoma (shudders)
I’m not even the same bgpony. Just tired of people’s gung-ho jingoistic bullshit.
Leaving a country is hard. It takes lots of money, research, and planning. Most of his/her family is probably here and his/her means of sustenance and shelter.
Will you aid this person on their noble quest to leave Murica? If they start a paypal to leave will you be the first to donate?
Wichita Falls is being silly, not Texas. People seriously need to stop lumping an entire state with the opinion of one fucking woman from one fucking town.
Never called you any of those things, you made that assumption yourself. But if you want to trash talk this country with assumptions and claim to be ashamed of a citizenship thousands of illegal immigrants clamor for each and every day, please leave, we don’t want you.
Hur Hur! Luv it ‘er leave it ya’ pinko. Dis is MURICA! Y’all don’t like ya’ can pack your bags and get outta here you queer commie!
amirite?
Don’t like being an American? Pack your bags bro, You’ll be happier and we’ll be happier.
This.
Lana Sweeten-Shults has been the arts and entertainment editor at the Times Record News since 1997. She received her bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Texas at Austin with a specialization in the magazine sequence. She has also worked at the Bay City Daily Tribune in Bay City, Texas, as the lifestyles and religion editor, and at the Victoria Advocate in Victoria, Texas, as the assistant features editor before being promoted to features editor. She has done free-lance, work, as well, for the San Antonio Current alternative weekly in San Antonio, where she is from, and has written articles, too, for a Hummer publication for Hummer vehicle owners. She has received awards from the Texas Associated Press and from the Oklahoma Newspaper Editors in comment and criticism, feature writing and headline writing. Outside of the paper, she has volunteered for a number of nonprofits, including working with the Falls Fest Steering Committee, and she is a mom, too, to three children.
She has covered hard hitting journalistic pieces that really challenge her mertis with such pieces as:
Sausage lovers take a bite out of a special blend
and
cakes alive! which tells the harrowing story of the day a bunch of people ate a bunch of pancakes.
actually, nope.
Aaaaaaannnnnnnd I’m back. Pretty much what I expected. Judgemental bullshit by a dumbass Texan from Texas. At least she didn’t call us pedophiles. That’s an improvement.
What really gets me is she celebrated how girls are getting into areas that traditionally were a boy’s domain, and yet she’s Shocked (Shocked!) when it goes the other way.
This is of course the problem that most Americans have (I’m American too, unfortunately). The total inability to realize that sexist stereotypes cut both ways. We’ve gotten to the point where girls are allowed to like anything at all, whereas we men are continually boxed in to only liking what Society – the most traditionalist conservative elements of it – tells us to like. 11 times out of 10 that would be heavily testosterone-laden dumb crap.
Please don’t take that to mean that I deny Sexism against women no longer exists. It unfortunately does.
Maybe we’re tired of all the hatefulness and snark and competition for competition’s sake. Maybe (I’m too lazy to finish this thought but you get my point).
“Don’t y’all dare take the name of Texas in vain!”
“Can we say shoes from Texas are dumb?”
Started out as preparing for the launch of a new cartoon network and a few people in a general saying the pilot wasn’t that bad. Promptly followed by a Cartoon Brew piece on “the death of creator-driven animation” and a Ms. Magazine article called “My Little Racist, Sexist, Smarts-shaming Pony,” to which Faust wrote a rebuttal.
All this drama got people interested and made people realize the show was actually pretty good.
And the rest, as they say, is history.
Please watch what you say, not everyone in Texas is like her and you do us no favors implying that we are.
I thought it was more along the lines of /co/ trolling and /b/ joining in but being caught up in a show that was miraculously good.
All the truth.
Being butthurt over an opinion article is literally the thing that made FiM so popular.
She lives in Wichita Falls; a place that is lucky enough to have a beach and unfortunate enough to have a water shortage.
But what is there to do in Witchita falls, you may ask? Well, according to their website they’ll be having a boot scootin’ boogie and an auto show in February.
If the monotony isn’t enough for you, I’m sure you’ll love their meth labs!
In a cursory search of Texas meth labs and drug houses Witchita Falls reigns supreme!
