Description
Twilight’s not instantly going to become Celestia-level Princess. She’ll have to learn more to be a real princess which I’m sure will involve familiar shenanigans. Nor is Twilight going to become this figure whose presence puts her friends at distress, thinking they have to treat her in some special princessy royal way. If they do, Twilight will probably instantly set them straight about it, and anypony else who acts in such a manner.
because people telling you to calm down is always irratating
Because it’s embarrassing for Rarity to witness something so uncouth.
Wing fetish she couldn’t indulge with Twilight before.
Even then, Twilight acted more like a surrogate for the audience to get to know the different characters rather than the active characters in the vast majority of episodes, making for a show where a main character of a different background was equalized with her peers and brought into a place where their antics could be observed without need to explain away all the possible strings that her position would require.
In many ways, the whole point of the show was to remove her specialness and make us see the rest of the characters, with her being hammered into stories because of her de jure status as the central part of the show, while her de facto status was just one more character.
Because of this lack of focus upon her, the appeal of the show was far wider and we didn’t need to worry too much about her alleged Mary Sue-ness, an accusation which was also placed upon Rainbow Dash but also didn’t get weight when the focus was so spread out between them all.
That spread-outness is, perhaps, the most interesting reason for its success, and the main force that prevent this from being the Magical Girl show Lauren had originally envisioned and that would have probably made the attachment most of us have to the characters be nonexistant.
This is part of the reason why this so threatening to some fans. Twilight stops being just one more of the crew, and insisting otherwise is being a tad too optimistic on regards to having this work out like before. The show will have to change. There is nothing you can do about it, because otherwise the way people act with the main six (well, main five and alicorn) will make even less sense, to the point some people might not be able to stomach it.
The fear is based upon quite real issues, but we will have to wait and see how it will all turn out. Let us hope it goes to the better.
…now that I think about it, this is starting to make the idea of Princess Twilight BETTER!
THINK ABOUT IT!
The element of magic is a CROWN, what else would she have become but an alicorn when it awakens. That means when the other elements awaken respectively, it will be even MORE awesome cause it will be something new and unique to each of their non-crown necklaces…AND it was already established for the Discord episode the elements belong to them now!!!
….Season 4 is starting to look more promising. Spread the word everyone :D
That’s only Season 1. Lesson Zero was created to satire her ‘main character status’, and let everyone send messages to the princess.
The show was about Twilight in the first place.
“Princess is looking for a pony? Quick, everyone, go help her.”
And I find it kind of hard you will not have ponies doing that.
But why wont we have episodes like “The Last Roundup”? It is not her status as a Alicorn princess would have changed this episode on any way. It would not helped her to find AJ or to get AJ to tell them what happened
What a lot of people are worried about is balancing. MLP:FiM should be a story about the Mane 6 and Spike, not the Twilight Sparkle show. She certainly wasn’t the main character in “The Last Roundup” even when she was a part of it, and the episode was better written for it.
Do we want Twilight to become the new Sailor Moon, where all power ups revolve around her? Where her team mates get killed constantly for her to revive them? No, god no. Sailor Moon had its merits, but it did not lie in THAT aspect.
That is what people are worried about. Their worried about no balancing. I mean…remember Witchcraft is Magic Twilight Sparkle? Her joke aspect? This is kind of the punchline, and its not happening at the end of the series so were worried the show is going to be all about TS.
But, yes, we do have good writers. I just wish this idea CAME from the writers, instead of the corporate suits. Cadense was fine, but this decision? We’ll see how it plays out. Proper balancing might come.
No, Rarity dreams of MARRYING royalty. Or at least she did before Blueblood happened.
My presence seems to have this effect on ponies.
i know right? she could get wings for 10min or forever or a hundred other things may happen…fucking people.
