It’s funny you forgot characters whom were from the original comics & other canons like Fugitoid, the Triceratons, Leatherhead, and the Rat King/I-Monster.
 
The Dream Beavers were also based on the obscure Terror Bears. So the 2012 series had other nods to the original Mirage comics.

In fairness, I think they white-washed Baxter, because they feared having Shredder, constantly yell at a black guy would be racist.  
They similarly white-washed Bebop’s human form in the toy-line, (despite being black in the show) probably for similar reasons.

I have mixed feelings on the new “Rise of the TMNT” reboot, though honestly I’m fine with April being black. (In fact, while her race was kinda ambiguous in the B&W comics, her design was based on co-creator Kevin Eastman’s black girlfriend at the time. So maybe it’s more true to the original April.)  
Not too keen on Raph being the “leader” now, (I also kinda prefer short Sean Astin Raphael, over big tall bulky Raph) or Splinter being kinda lazy. At least, they’re finally bringing in the Shredder, though he’s going to be more like the Tengu demon Shredder from the 2003 series. (Which had 3 different Shredders, if you include it’s version of Karai.)

No, actually they look more normal in the 2012 series, (and IMO the 2012 Nick series was really good) this is just from a futuristic A.U. episode, which was basically the finale for the series.
