Description
(Hey, this time the character I’m posting literally is a lamia, and not a naga, or a nagapon, an original species from buck: legacy that shouldn’t be tagged lamia x_x
this time it fits! XD)
This is the non-hypnosis version
Commission for LiveHotsun
They wanted their character, whom they’ve commissioned me to draw before in the coils of a different snekpone, this time captured by my lamia, Melyssa
I changed her design a little here. I know I changed it in the last picture and I may change it again! but that’s what happens when you’re trying to change up and experiment with a character design.
This time I added spots under her eyes and running down her arms. Also made her tail spots a little messier. Imitating some aspects of the design of an old favourite lamia character of mine.
I don’t think I pulled off the spots going over the shoulders and down the arms though. mostly cus her shoulders were too low I think. also makes her whole front/breast area look plain. I’d love people’s feedback and ideas.
maybe I should stretch the whole underbelly up to her breast?
Anyway after a LOT of struggling I finally came up with a pose both I and the commissioner adored. Not to mean they were being picky, it was entirely my fault for being way too scrutinising on myself and wanting it to be just right XD
Sometimes you just have to start a picture over 3 times.
But we got there in the end!

no there’s a difference between hypnotism in real life and cartoons, obviously. what I draw is essentially a magic spell, not like the hypnotism techniques used in real life at all.
what I mean is people who are hypnotized don’t get swirly kaa eyes.
you’re free to define it however you like. I’m just pointing out how it started. also because removable eyes.
personally I make no difference between fantasy race and monster people.
I’m not talking about mythology though, but fantasy species. Regardless of the mythology they’re based off.
I am firmly on the hill of naga - half snake fantasy race and lamia- much more snake like monster people. And I will die on this hill XD
Even though most people seem to have unified in the opposite way around now. (It used to be much more up in the air when I was a kid and this is just the way I learned it from the games I play and artwork I looked at, and formed countless daydreams and RPs over the years based off of this idea of nagas and lamia as fantasy races. mostly nagas. So that’s what I’m used to.)
Not sure what you meant by the last part.
also just because you can’t see it doesn’t mean they’re not hypnotized. ♥
