@Paulli
What they do is unpredictable and unexpected. We can think, talking toys, anthropomorphic cars, entities representing our emotions, souls trapped in some weird dimension. That’s what they do. They dare and they deliver us what no other people expect.
Plus, things like consumerism, it’s either the least of their concern or they handle it with guts. But in the end, that’s what they do. They constantly experiment with genres. They mash ’em up, they rile ‘em, then they give us a delivery we did not expect to see.
Note: It’s still me, I accidentally turned on “anonymous”

I’m sorry if that sucks the fun out of it for you, but I think it’s cool to care about that stuff rather than just let it sink into our brains. I wish they’d make a fun movie about two ogre brothers on a magic quest, without showing us how endearing and harmless it is to be a suburban consumer, or how important and fulfilling nuclear families are. but you don’t have to wish for the same thing that I do. go enjoy it, and don’t worry about it.
Hey, this film doesn’t tackle about that crap. It’s just two ogre brothers in a real magic quest to bring their dead dad with a staff for a day. Just old-fashioned High-fantasy action in a modern-esque setting.
And there’s no reason for you to suck the fun out of people who enjoy it.
I wrote a single sentence about things I’m tired of. and there’s no reason films can’t be very serious and thought provoking, even in silly fantasies.
I don’t know what’s your problem with characters and whitewashed stuff, but you are talking about them like you’re in a political party.
It’s just a film. No need to write incredibly convoluted paragraphs about things you’re tired of.
no, I just get really tired of characters adopting quirky grins as they go about engaging in whitewashed normality.
…okay maybe a little boner for trash panda unicorns.
You’re speaking this like you’re in a politics court or something.
You know I don’t like to hear that kind of crap. Politics language.
What, you got a boner with them or something?

well, if it gets into the regretful squalor a certain minority has been pressured into that’s being covered up and belittled, to fool the masses into into thinking their lives are without consequences, then it might be interesting to watch.
looks more like they were conveniently rotten to begin with though, and high fantasy is just silly propaganda, unlike the true world of modern appliances and asphalt.
it’s dreamworks/pixar, so I guess it could go either way.
Although Pixar is in charge of it.
But yeah, it sort of is, no need to say a lot.
kinda ironic for a Disney movie.
This story basically just happens to tell most people of what happens when they drool in their comfort zone of advancements, but there’s still some of the olden days left.
the premise that high fantasy is a joke, and we should all be content with our complacent consumerist suburban lifestyles?
To be fair, not that many people went to see that movie, for a disney release I mean.
…I was wondering why this had disney tags.
Another from Game of Thrones:
“Horses are dumber than men.”
I’m sure there’s a saying about this: “the pricier the racehorse, the more insistently suicidal they are”
