Solanar is the child of Discord and Celestia from an alternate universe where his father took over Equestria in a pact with Sombra and Chrysalis. Solanar spent a lot of his childhood under his fathers twisted rule leading him to become cruel and seek out power. His magic is rooted both in Celestia’s Equestrian magic and his fathers Chaos magic and with the Shadow Band a gift from “uncle” Sombra he is capable of wielding the three most powerful forces of magic in equestria. This immense power allows him to rip holes in time and space and phase into other realities. Often ignored by his father it became an obsession with him to prove to his father he is worth paying attention to. He keeps only the company of one other individual his childhood sparring partner and closest confidant. Meanwhile, he is often plagued by his cousin Lunaris the son of Luna and Sombra as unwilling a pairing as Discord and Celestia. Lunaris, however, managed to escape from the clutches of his father being sent far away to live elsewhere in the world. Luckily for Sol, however, Lunaris unlike himself didn’t have nearly as much power the other alicorn often has to get help to rip the barriers between worlds always giving Sol a head start.
 
He is very good at manipulating others and uses this ability of his silver tongue to bring smaller villains over to his side or even turn someone who is already borderline. This is something he has done on several occasions using his smarmy manners to court Crimson Heart and bring her over to his side promising her freedom from the pain of her own shadow powers. This pact between the two, however, has proven to not be as useful as he would like as she is as soft as the others in the Dimension he found her. Unwilling to do the truly dirty work he uses her instead as a distraction so he may line up everything to his own plans. Plans that include taking over the multiverse to prove to his father that he is worth paying attention to.
