How much more evil/evildoing would it take for the trio being so punished/to the point of Fluttershy laughing at them would be justifiable? A bodycount? This?

This seems to have got fans to hate the character appropriately.

I accept the criticism Discord merely broke even karma-wise after that, leaving the question of if freeing him did more harm than good in the long run. What more would he have to do/go through before his forgiveness would be acceptable? (I’d make clear he intended for their redemption like he himself, it be pointed out Celestia has used similar secret tests with rouge villains before, and maybe agree not to do such again depending on how trustworthy it can be made.)

That was just his karma catching up to him.

Besides his friends “Turning against him” was just them giving him some attitude for a few hours. Not like it went any further than that and they obviously didn’t want him to kill himself over it.

Everything else was the equivalent of the bomb he’d been playing with blowing up in his face.

No, he just had his powers taken away, was humiliated, had his friends turn against him, and had to risk his life just to make it up to them. But, yeah, keep telling me how he “was not punished” for his actions.

Starlight, Discord, Tempest. Also the punishment was overkill and Tirek was already in prison for a thousand years before this. Not to mention the fact that Discord also played a key role in this incident and was not punished for it. Also, rehabilitation is a more ideal outcome that was never attempted beforehand.

Well they did try to destroy Equestria for their own personal goals why shouldn’t they be punished?

Cozy may be a very unique child, but I find it hard to believe she’d be harder to change than a god of disharmony, who’s very nature is chaos and disorder.
 
That’s what I take issue with. You say Discord can change, and Cozy can’t. To which I say, why?
 
By all rights Cozy, who is just a child that can’t possibly be older than the crusaders, can’t possibly be harder to change than Discord who was a menace to the entire world for thousands of years.
 
Discord only changed because someone tried to change him. He had centuries to WANT to change on his own and he never did. You can’t expect someone to change if you’re not willing to give them a second chance, and who has ever tried to change Cozy? Heck who has every tried to change Tirek?
 
They were both just locked away and forgotten about. Is the problem that they can’t change, or will they never change because you’ve already assumed they can’t? There’s not really any reason Cozy can’t change, it just sounds like assuming she can’t makes it easier to accept that they didn’t even try to change her.

Not what I was going for. Children can change, but when they’re obsessed with taking over a kingdom and ridding the world of magic probably won’t change, hell they may stay that way. People can change, but they can only do it of their own volition. You can’t change someone, they can only change themselves. I know I sound like a complainer and a bitch, but villains can’t always change. Discord is a centuries (possibly millennia) old, dimension traveling GOD of chaos, but he changed because he wanted to, not at first but he did change (kinda). Children who are power-hungry for a while and have made plans to do it probably won’t change because children are easily swayed by other’s and their own thoughts. Not all children are like this, children are innocent and not don’t have a great meaning of the world and life, but Cozy Glow’s an exception. That isn’t my point at all, I’m aware it may sound like that, but that is most definitely not what I meant.

Good point, I don’t know what the fuck they’re doing anyway. Why am I analyzing this? Some can be reformed like Discord and Starlight, but others, like the 3, weren’t able because they’ve tried to take over Equestria multiple times and have made no attempt to even try friendship. The episode ‘Frenemies’ showed them almost get into friendship but they didn’t, cause they were evil. Maybe a different kind of evil, as Discord is just a being of pure chaos and he isn’t bound to just Equestria, he can travel through many dimensions, and Starlight just did what she did out of spite and the writers trying to say ‘oh it’s sad, she was sad, she’s not evil”, and they did it fine with her, she’s not great but she’s not a bad case in my opinion. Maybe they’re keeping them in not for eternity, but just a long long time to maybe redeem themselves in the future, I don’t personally think that but it’s a possibility for some. Believe what you want, I’m just trying to give my 2 cents on this post. Discord was reformed, maybe the three could be in your mind, whatever you like.

Goddam, people need to realize that they’re villains, and villains in shows like this get defeated. Everyone’s complaining about imprisoning Cozy Glow, but she’s an irredeemable 8-year old or whatever the fuck old she is who tried to suck the magic from everyone in Equestria and tried to take over again with two other powerful villains. Mother of God’s left eyebrow, this is for kids, villains in kid oriented shows get defeated, have you forgotten that MLP is still a kids show? A lot of adults liked, nay, loved it, but it was still marketed towards 4-8 year olds, as that’s who the show’s aimed for. It’s the same in Disney, there’s a (sometimes enjoyable) villain, but they have to get defeated cuz this is what the hero’s journey is, good prevails, evil loses. It ain’t sunshine and rainbows all the time! Don’t complain about your villain waifus and hubbies getting banished/killed/imprisoned etc. cuz THEY’RE EVIL AND EVIL GETS PUNISHED IN THESE SHOWS! flips table, breaking several bowls and glasses| storms off angrily.

Hey the rest of the mane6 and the princesses are just as responsible for what happened.

I just got done killing Fluttershy. Discord tried to stop me, but I had Grogar’s bell and I took his powers and finally killed him. I’m going to tell everypony that Discord was the one who killed Fluttershy, then I’ll give Pinkie his powers.

I’m going to kill Fluttershy for this.

I always did wonder how we could know which one of the statues in those gardens are and aren’t statues.
 
Although, Cozy Glow is proof Discord was full of it when he said he doesn’t turn ponies to stone, so maybe I can give Celestia a little slack.
