Twilight: You have done that yourself!
Spike: you’ll not take her from me!
The ending is meant to be an ironic echo. Showing us, that once again Spike’s eaten all his gems, just like in the beginning. It’s also meant to test the audience’s imagination, to guess what happens next.
We assume that he digs up more gems that he had in the beginning, and duct tapes that mouth shut, so he can do that cake.
Would it have killed them to show us that though? Especially since he did learn his lesson?
Do not fret friend, you clearly like this character, as do I, and don’t like him being the butt-monkey. There’s nothing wrong with that.
But again, it’s only a cartoon. A cartoon where this little guy can just dig up more gems for his cake, since the equestrian land is full of them. He’s just mad that he has to dig all those gems again. But in the end, he’ll bake that cake.
I know it was meant to be funny and I’m letting myself get worked up over nothing. This whole episode just feels wrong, you know? Like it was written for a cartoon like Ed Edd and Eddy or Invader Zim. It just rubs me the wrong way that a FiM episode could be so mean spirited and cynical.
Well, to be fair, he is the god of chaos, many things don’t seem to bug him. And in the end, the ponies are still skeptical of discord. So it’s not quite that he’s easily forgiven.
I know where you’re coming from. Some of the ponies acted despicable towards him, but it didn’t end too bad for him. The ponies didn’t find out, and do anything to him.
The ending was just meant to be funny. He kept eating his gems, and in the end, he ate his last one. It doesn’t mean he won’t get more, it just means he’s back to square one. There are tons in the ground, he just needs to dig them up. How do you think he got those gems in the beginning?
Discord’s immortal. 1000 years is an afternoon nap for him, and he never seemed upset about it. But after turning Equestria into a literal hell on earth, he skates away with zero consequences, while Spike acts mildly greedy and gets the entire an whole episode worth of crap on him, even after learning his lesson.
You want some cream for that buttpain?
Yeah, getting imprisoned in stone twice, is better treatment.
