Yup.
That
Yes.
Edited because: Because I like cute things, shut up
Every Zebra I’ve ever seen had a unique thingy on their flank, I’m pretty sure only zebras know what they mean.
But does every zebra have a different swirl pattern pr do they all look the same.. I guess i will have to wait for season 10 comics to find out
They are swirly looking tribal stylized marks
Yes or the 2021 movie

That is true, but the big problem with the show’s lore is it tends to either not give enough information, or it causes the occasional plot hole. It’s rare that their established lore is bad or nonsensical. They don’t do things like the moon furbies, or the dragon ghetto, or Twilight not being able to use her magic on citizens of Equestria, or COMPLETELY undermining Luna’s entire character and rendering her entire character arc pointless by making her not at all responsible for becoming Nightmare Moon :P

I think it’s very much like Marvel / DC rules, with alternate universes. Both the show and the comics already deal with alternate universes (Equestria Girls in the show and the mirror universe in the comics) so alternate universes existing already canon, and the show being one universe and the comics being one or multiple universes makes total sense :D

I think a big problem is they want so bad to tell their own stories that they actually neglect the show’s canon. They’ll have issues where the issue’s original characters are the only ones integral to the plot or show characters acting in ways that don’t match their canon personalities at all (to the point that they might as well be original characters). I’m not blaming them one bit since I do the exact same thing with my artwork and characters, but it causes problems when they try to insist they’re canon with each other :P
Thinking too of Evil Twilight, I noticed they seemed to make an effort to sterilize some characters and make them either wholly good or wholly evil, even though they originally implied there was much more depth to them. Like how they originally implied Chrysalis was genuinely looking out for her subjects but then revealed she was just power hungry and using them. Probably Evil Twilight cast too much doubt on how “good” Twilight actually was, and so they made an evil clone instead (alternately, that scene was just foreshadowing Mean Twilight the entire time) :P

@Ping_chan
I have a sneaking suspicion the writers weren’t too fond of Rainbow Power. Notice how the only time it’s brought up in the show is as one of the things Pinkie brings up while annoying Mean Twilight? XD
Also Twilight’s Castle is brought up. Remember when the writers seemed like they were setting up the castle in the Everfree Forest to become Twilight’s but suddenly they had a new toy to sell? Seems to me like that whole scene was taking a bit of a jab at stuff they were made to put into the show XD
Edited
Basically, yeah. Outside of little minor teases here and there.

I think Pinkie Pie used it for a joke in another episode too but I can’t think of any other time they were used.
Again, it feels they were really just there to promote the new toys (which is probably true). Also, at the time a lot of people didn’t really like how they looked or how they were used in the episode so I don’t know if that also factored into them not using Rainbow Power in future episodes.
Well it was in Luna’s dream at the beginning of Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep?, but I think that was the last time it was shown, if you can even count a dream scene.
Nothing really happened in the show with the rainbow power did it? It just kind of happened abruptly and then never happened again?
Also, I feel the need to bring up that both the Rainbow Power thing and the School of Friendship weren’t things planned by any of the writers or producers of the show. Hasbro told them to do both of those to promote the newer toylines.
That comment’s mine. The site kicked/logged me off for some reason. It’s been doing that a lot since we updated to Philomena.
Found it. Big Jim said in an interview that they wanted to use Zebra in the show but Hasbro shut the idea down.
@Background Pony #546C
I heard from a friend about that but thanks for telling me about it. I’m cautiously optimistic but I hope it ends up being good.
@Badumsquish
So am I. There are lots of ideas I like in the comics but overall I feel the execution overall could be done a lot better.
@StormShadow
Oh yeah. They were in hot water multiple times in season 1.
Feeling Pinkie Keen got into hot water because some people assumed that it was mocking atheism and the scientific community. It got so bad that Lauren Faust had to apologize and explain that when they were making the episode, their intentions weren’t to mock science or atheists.
Both Bridal Gossip and Over a Barrel were under hot water for similar reasons. Basically, some people think Zecora and the Bison were stereotypes of Africans and Native Americans. It didn’t help that to some people, the latter episode kind of felt like an offensive simplification of the wars that happened between Native Americans the settlers. And that’s probably why those characters weren’t used often in the show and why Zebras and Bufflo weren’t really expanded upon in later episodes of the show like other races were (e.g. Griffons, Hippogriffs, and Yaks).
@Ping_chan
Pretty much. Plus the fact Zecora was talking made-up gibberish as an African language (even though the creators originally wanted her to speak actual Swahili in that scene) probably didn’t help matters either.
@Background Pony #546C
Based on what I’ve seen and heard in some of the leaks, some ideas the show touched on previously were going to be included in future episodes but for whatever reason, some of those ideas were axed. (This could be for many different reasons including Hasbro telling them not to do it, schedule reasons, budgetary reasons, disagreements with the higher-ups or other staff, etc.)
For example, there was going to be a plotline about an evil Twilight. Why the idea was axed? I don’t know. But here’s the thing. The show actually foreshadowed this plotline happening before it got axed.
We could have got this in some shape or form. The closest we’ve got is the clone Twilight Chrysalis made, Midnight Sparkle in Equestria Girls, and possibly maybe Starlight Glimmer (since from what I heard the axed plotline had time travel not to mention Starlight does share quite a bit of traits with Twilight).
Y’mean the one they’re doing in the comics?
I hope the castle comes back in season 10
The Castle of the Two Sisters was a really as castle and it deserved more episodes.
The show also likes to introduce things just to ignore it later ie the castle of the two sisters, the school of friendship rainbow power prince blueblood am i forgetting anything
My theory is certain comics take place in alternative worlds(which would explain why the art styles keep changing) in one of the specials starswirl made many different mirrors that lead to alternate worlds
I personally wouldn’t doubt it, it’s like if you include a black character in a show, you probably have to go through a political correctness flow chart before you finish designing the character, Lauren Faust wanted Zecora to resemble a culturally traditional person from Africa, and I believe I do remember hearing about people complaining about Zecoras design.
Personally I want to marry Zecora, but that’s beside the point.
@Badumsquish
To be fair, the show doesn’t have a good track record with following the show lore…
…
I want more Zebras! ;o;
A sneak peak comic will free on free comic book day which is in May… I know the equestria girls comics come out in March

Wait, DHX was in hot water for Zecora in S1?
