“Sheepish and Charming”
“The Daily Crusade” has started! After watching “Growing Up is Hard to Do”, the last Cutie Mark Crusaders episode, and while trying to deal with the thought that I will likely never see the Cutie Mark Crusaders, the fillies I love so much, again, I knew I had to do something to keep feeling close to them.
And I always felt the closest to ponies when I was drawing them. So the idea was made to draw them (or one of them) every day, at least one Cutie Mark Crusaders picture each day to stay close to them and hopefully ease my heart that aches for them.
And I also wanted to build them an eternal monument, so that people will always remember the Cutie Mark Crusaders and their Greatness.
This artblog serves as both, a monument so that people will never forget the Cutie Mark Crusaders and as a way to ensure I will stay connected and close to them.
After two and a half days of learning to code HTML and CSS from scratch with the Tumblr Dash (the reference to Rainbow Dash is not a coincidence, Scootaloo approves of this!) Tutorial and its two preceding tutorials about the basics of HTML and CSS and another two days of coding “The Daily Crusade”, my Cutie Mark Crusaders artblog, and an accompanying modblog, (and one night without sleep and many lost braincells because of HTML’s and CSS’ complications thrown into the mix), this monument for the best fillies who ever lived and the best ponies is finally erected!
Today, the design was finalized and, as naturally as it should be, I went and drew the first picture for “The Daily Crusade”!
And today is also a special day in one other way, exactly 8 years ago today, I watched my first episode of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, “Call of the Cutie”, and got to know to Applebloom and all three of my lovely fillies.
The decision for the picture that now launches “The Daily Crusade” was an easy one with that, it had to be a fanart for “Call of the Cutie” and it had to be Applebloom. I also would have drawn all three of them and I only decided against that because it was late already and I wanted to make sure I will manage to draw a picture for the inauguration of “The Daily Crusade”.
And what stands for this episode more if you draw Applebloom, than Applebloom wearing this famous makeshift dress to hide her blank flank from Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon, a mere minute before Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle entered her life? It was an easy decision, as well.
And so, here is Applebloom with her charmingly cute grin and pose from this famous moment that happened very shortly before another moment wrote history for Applebloom and her two best friends and for the whole of Equestria!
Enjoy this picture that was drawn with my humble pony art skills, bask in the nostalgic memory just like I do now and always remember the roots, of the Cutie Mark Crusaders and My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic alike!
The ride never ends!
