She would be strict right now because he is new. Later on she would be more lax about things but when someone new is introduced she would try to do it exactly right.

Can we even call that “praise”? It feels more like a very polite feedback, that covers positives and negatives.
 
However: I have a hard time to believe that she made her system so strict that even “compliments” are forbidden, not to mention, such rules would be impractical, or better said, not checkable.
 
Also: She is alone with him in her house and the rest of the town probably doesn’t know what’s going on, so why would she even care about staying 100% true to her system? She wouldn’t be the first political leader who makes “exceptions” in some fields.

I am kind of surprised Starlight is pushing the praise onto him. Isn’t she all about equality and that nobody has any superior skills?

It could work out that way but it would be a bit harder to insert drama, and it would be interesting to see them biker or him question her and his sanity whilst trying to take down a princess of equestrian, along with the distraction of their relationship possibly earning the relationship goals tag.

I just came up with a random idea - they are together even after Starlight’s reformation. I know, a bit off-topic, but mnaybe at even further point of this lovely comic it could have sense? :)

I know I look forward to more ‘development’ between these two, whether that be character development or something else I leave that up to you (maybe booth if you would like)! I will be eagerly awaiting an update at any point in the future, anytime that works best for you of course as I don’t want poor quality.

for all we know she may get feelings for him and try to ‘feign’ taking his cutie mark, at least it would be quite interesting to see her get emotionally involved against her intentions and maybe some drama after that, this could even make for a better villain story for why she wants to hurt twilight sparkle personally if she manages to make him leave starlight. Who knows, but I hope we get a sequel of her at least somewhat falling for him, like he tries to get into an actual relationship with her and does some stuff to help her and she finds herself appreciating someone caring for her directly for once. Something like that.
