And then she just winds up mangled and in more pain… compounded by the fact that an unsuccessful suicide attempt is a criminal offense in most locales. (I get the reasoning behind that… but talk about kickin’ ya when you’re down!)
Assassins are known to use .22s for headshots. Used right they do a lot of damage cleanly and quietly enough to avoid unneeded attention. The round’s initial force can penetrate a skull easily, but not leave it again after that robs it of speed.
So it ricochets back and forth in the brainpan…doing more damage than heavier rounds that would pass in and out. And the visible damage to the target is far less of a spectacle.

I’m totally grabbing the wrong end of the stick, but can’t help but notice that revolver must be tiny.
I think the average character is what, 4 feet tall? Measured at the top of their head?

I mean, television actor Jon-Erik Hexum died from a blank at point-blank (no pun intended) range. (He didn’t know what a blank was and how guns worked so he shot himself thinking it was harmless when he was bored. Not sure whether to give him a Darwin award, be extremely pissed off at his family and his prop director for not teaching him about proper gun safety, or both. Probably just the family and film/prop crew- It isn’t usually stupid people’s fault they’re stupid after all.) If you hit just the right way, I’m sure there’s a really good chance a .22 will kill you point blank. She is “aiming” rather forward though. The bullet might just go through her eye and/or hit the bridge of her nose.

Anything to the head launched at transonic speed will kill you. In fact, it’s safer because higher energy cartriges may overpenetrate.

Head shot survivors do happen, (your comment sounds like death is assured) especially when holding the pistol to the temple as she is. The bullet can pass through the forward part of the brain, which has no critical parts for sustaining life, or if tilted, has just passed through the orbitals leaving the person blind, but very much alive. Death is common, but not assured. There was even a young boy (about 14 yo) who survived a high velocity gunshot from a rifle that was reminiscent of the shot that killed JFK. The boy lived, but was left with only half a brain.

I’m torn between saying: “You’re doing it wrong”, “Please, stop!”, and “Use a larger caliber”.(seriously, the amount of grooves on the cylinder suggest that it’s a .22 and not a .38)
