Today, I watched the MLP episode “Sounds Of Silence”, in which Applejack and Fluttershy are sent to solve a problem involving an isolated race of pony-like creatures known as Kirins and their inability to speak. While AJ is getting answers from Autumn Blaze, the only Kirin who’s managed to find a way to restore her vocals, the latter immediately bursts into song about how and why her people had become mute.
While the song did have a purpose and was (briefly) referenced afterwards, it still feels like a BLAM, cuz it comes right out of friggin NOWHERE. No build-up, no prompting, not even an intro. Autumn just immediately launches into the song without giving a moment’s thought. And that is what makes it perfect fodder for this meme.

I prefer separating the ideas and the persons. If a good idea comes from NC, so be it. (For exemple, I liked his hypnosis analogy when describing the non-engaging way the characters move during slapsticks in the Smurfs movie). I can still refuse to support the guy by not giving him exposure and/or disliking his content if I don’t like him for other reasons.
@PonyPon
It doesn’t have to be a bad thing, but when I see it used, it’s in a dismissive way, making it harder to inquire about its badness in the given context. It’s like saying “That’s cliché!” and leaving it at that, dismissively, not realising that clichés are not bad on their own.
It isn’t, but this song is plot related.
Well who said BLAM have to be a bad thing?
Yes, it’s called the “arts and entertanment community” and they just listen and repeat each other. Quite obnoxious. 20% watching stuff and 80% cracking stupid jokes.
@northern haste
Now now, no accusations. You don’t know the man personally. So don’t act like that.
also it really isn’t a good idea to use one of nc’s jokes like this considering he is a horrible person
Kinda like how offensive terms can be used as get-out-of-jail-free cards in a debate or discussion when you don’t have any valid argument left.
Just stating an opinion on something that rubbed me the wrong way for quite some time. No hate here :)
Yup, that’s another. (bonus points for actually being an alligator :)
