“I still can’t believe you didn’t tell me you were doing this.”
“Slipped my mind, I guess,” Firefly shrugged as she and her wife made their way down the hospital halls. “You know how I am. Besides, you know it’s Hawk and ‘Brosia’s kid. No biggie.”
“I didn’t when I found your pregnancy test,” Galaxy muttered. “A big decision like this isn’t just something you just forget to share!”
“Bro-cuz! Hawk!” Firefly called down the hall, changing the subject. “Ready to see your kid?”
“Hell yeah!” Hawk grinned widely. “We’ve been waiting for this!”
“Then let’s get to it, boys!” Firefly sashayed into the room, putting on the hospital gown offered to her and draping herself over the examination table.
After a few moments of checking in with the nurse, a doctor came in pushing a large device that looked like a television set. “Good afternoon, Princess. Are you ready for the ultrasound?”
“Are you kidding?” Firefly cackled. “Why else would I be here?”
The doctor chuckled with her and pulled out a tube. “This might be cold.”
“Ooh,” Firefly wiggled her eyebrows at the gooey substance being squirted onto her abdomen. “This feels like lube-“ She was interrupted by a sharp pink elbow to the side. Before she could protest, the doctor began rubbing a wand over her body and everyone’s attention turned to the image of Firefly’s womb on the screen.
“Look!” Hawk exclaimed. “It’s our baby!”
“It’s so beautiful!” Ambrosia cooed.
Firefly cocked an eyebrow. “Wait, THAT’S the baby? It looks like a tiny little prune!”
“Hey!” Hawk protested. “It’s OUR tiny little prune!”
“That’s because you’re only two months along,” the doctor explained. “The baby will grow a lot between now and when you give birth.”
“Huh. Makes sense, I guess.”
“Have you not been reading up on pregnancy?” Ambrosia asked.
“No?” Firefly answered, prompting a facehoof from Galaxy.
“We really need to get you a copy of What To Expect When You’re Expecting then, as soon as possible.”
