Well, she didn’t, that was a character flaw, she probably was too self-absorbed at the time and brushed off her sister woes as pointless whining.
Same thing towards Luna, she felt under appreciated when her sister had praise rained upon her every day, maybe that’s why she learned to develop how to dreamwalk after the 1000 year exile, to be able to interact with her subjects as much as her sister, which helped her accept that ponies appreciate a good night as much as a good day.
I dunno about Nightmare Night, perhaps the purpose was to both A: Separate Nightmare Moon from Luna in popular story, and B: To degrade Nightmare Moon to a children’s bogeyman, both to ease the citizen’s minds from her, and to help Celestia feel better about her failure.
At least that’s how I see it.
Celestia, could have maybe, I don’t know, helped her less experienced sister start a nighttime festival or something? Or noticed that her sister was brooding and saying treacherous things?
Luna could have actually done things that would have made ponies enjoy night, she would have to work harder but it could have happened, especially if her sister helped. She also could have just realized that ponies want to sleep at night and that her subjects don’t need to bow to her in order to appreciate her.
Oh, and Celestia just letting a tradition that vilified a supposedly legendary figure who she knew was not only real, but her own sister, continue for a millennia was kind of a low blow.
…Could you clarify to me? I’ve caught the stupid.
Meh, most problems have issues contributed by both parties. And the two sisters definitely are characterized as contributing them.
Actually, It would be better if it was an episode focused on the royal sisters.
I mean, jeez, we don’t even know what kind of sisters they are, Luna hasn’t said a damn thing about or to her sister, and the same thing for Celestia, and considering that their sisterhood is one of the major factors surrounding the rise of Nightmare Moon, it’s pretty damn enervating that we don’t see how they interact with one another.
I dunno, maybe an episode were they both feel they’re horrible sisters due to a lack of communication and the whole “1000 years in the moon because of demonic corruption” incident, and seek out Applejack and Rarity for advice. That’d be pretty entertaining at the very least.
She just wasn’t needed for what they wanted to do. The show isn’t about her, it’s about her student making friends.
What she really needs is an episode like “Luna Eclipsed.” I would love an episode where Twilight and Celestia somehow switch bodies for a day for magic/science/teaching opportunity/to make things interesting.
Who says she didn’t? Season 1 is where we learned some details about her personality, like her somewhat mischievous side, and distaste of the overly royal treatment she gets, and boredom with the Canterlot elite.
Yeah, it wasn’t much, but it was SOMETHING, She at least made appearances that didn’t consist of her telling Twilight to go sort shit out.
I’m hoping for a sisters episode.
…
I can dream!
Um, pretty sure she never got any characterization in any season…
Which I really hope changes in S4.
Those were the days…
