Maybe the Dragon Code is real? The dragons of Equestria show to live hundreds if not thousands of year (The one from Dragonshy was going to have a hundred years nap I think), possibly far more than most of the creatures in Equestria, so a lifetime for a pony is not that much for a dragon. Maybe that’s why the dragons are so mean and anti-social with other species, they don’t want to have to serve them.
 
Or maybe he made it up, as that card was obviously made by him and he said it was “personal” and important to him.  
You know how he became a giant monster by receiving free stuff? Maybe he thought that his life being saved and not repaying it was like receiving a gift x10000.

I think he and Twilight made it up after Secret Of My Excess after realizing that mere small selfish acts can make him turn into a monster. It’s Spike’s way to control himself.

Because pinkie pie in party of one is so in character when viewed against all her other episodes…no wait its not. Also I personally feel that the point of this episode was to make Spike look and act like a child and not just a character whos there to point out Twilights problems and loop holes in her logic; see Lesson Zero and it’s about time (okay its about time im not 100% sure on but hey being honest)  
Also to the merriwether hate going on. It’s dumb to say the least, come on she wrote putting your hoof down and wonderbolts academy, your saying that there bad episodes?

Also why was he clumsy and making messes everywhere when he cleans for a living? Why was he smelling his feet when he was raised by the princess/the princess’ apprentice? Why was he suddenly creeper status @ Rarity?
 
Spike was way OOC the whole episode. It was ridiculous.
