She didn’t sacrifice herself. She was behind Twilight as the obsidian orb os about to turn Twilight into a statue, but Rainbow Dash saves Twilight until Derpy is caught in the crossfires. Speaking of which, the invasion scene would have seen many of the Storm King’s troops with not just their shields and spears but obsidian orbs as well while chasing or blocking the Mane Six and Spike who were running away from the wrath/clutches of the Storm King who have taken over Equestria.
