Legendary
I missed today’s NATG deadline by mere minutes, so I said “to hell with it” and spent an extra hour perfecting this sketch. The theme was “Draw a legendary pony/draw a pony with a story to tell.” I guess I could have drawn griffons or minotaurs or something, but I had to draw this.
The pony at bottom right is Scop, the old but rambunctious storyteller of the Last Broch in “Swordpony.” The three ponies above him are characters from the tale of Ironwing, which he relates to the reader during chapter six.
The tale of Ironwing is basically just an alternate version of Hearth’s Warming Eve. Instead of fleeing south to found Equestria, some ponies stay to defend the north from the encroaching armies of winter. These ponies are rallied by Ironwing, Pyrefrost (the unicorn), and Baymane (the earth pony). Together they forge a sword with the joint magics of all three pony races, and they name it “Isos” which means “equal” in the pegasus language. And then they kick some righteous ass in the final battle and Ironwing kills all the windigos with his hot pink sword.
