Backstory:
Strom is the son of tempest and pharynx his parents became close after working together to defend equestria witch the new changeling empire joined when there king Thorax married the princess Celestia. His mother was always a nurturing type but she was very good at being stern when she needed to be letting her son learn lessons the hard way when necessary. Her husband Pharynx has always been a good father as well but tended to be over aggressive with training of the young storm believing he should be able to defend himself as well as they could. He grew up with heavy combat training and a stern hand but never felt like it was unfair or unjust.
However, his upbringing also made him see the world in a much more combative way then most of the other youngsters. He would often get into fights with the other kids leading to many scrapped knees and bruised eyes. He would often beat up anyone who spoke of others poorly particularly those who still had a mistrust for changelings like himself. Because of this aggressive behavior his parents were forced to homeschool him as most equestrian schools didn’t know how to handle him. This isolation while not purposeful is what lead him to be socially awkward with others particularly when it came to expressing his emotions. He would spend much of his time out hiking around his hometown of Ponyville. This lead him to coming in contact with the quite and reserved Crystalline.
It didn’t take long for Storm to take on Crystalline as a person for him to protect as the other male was often like himself seen as suspicious due to his powerful magic that seemed to be at odds with his nature. Storm and him were close for most of there childhood until Crystalline started hanging around Midnight’s house. Storm saw midnight as a rival for the quite ponies attention and as such has spent much of his time trying to start shit with the son of the princess of friendship putting him at exact odds with the rest of ponyville much to the dismay of his mother in particular who sees twilight as someone who helped her see the light in her darkest times.
