Even a small, homey town like Ponyville has its share of rumors that circulate from time to time which are usually exaggerated, but with a bit of truth to them. One such rumor going around is that, after Maud announced her pregnancy to Pinkie Pie, the mare got busy making a cousin for her soon to be niece and/or nephew in the hopes that the two cousins would grow up to be friends. You know, being of a similar age and all that.
 
While there’s really no evidence to back up this assumption, it sure would explain how Pinkie just happened to declared her own pregnancy a little over a month after Maud’s announcement. Once Pinkie found out both of their foals were boys, the ticking time bomb of her excitement exploded off the charts. Overnight, all the stores in town were sold out of everything baby or colt related. This made the sales ponies gleeful, of course, but it sure made bringing a gift for the double foal shower difficult, to say the least.
 
 
A little over a week before Maud was due, Pinkie went into labor three months early. Over-excitement was the only conclusion the doctors could come up with. Despite weighing a good couple pounds smaller than average, teeny tiny Rock Candy turned out to be as healthy as any foal. And just when Pinkie thought things couldn’t get any better, Maud had her foal, Petri, just 24 hours later. There never was two happier mommas in the hospital that day, even if only one of them was showing it.
 
 
As soon as the two were released to go home, Pinkie arranged for a photo to be taken of the her and Maud with the colts together striking awesome ‘Mom’ poses to commemorate the occasion.
