Description
Official art for Buck: Legacy card game, illustrated by Secret-Pony, the illustration depicts a Nagapon Ronin. The card is a race card that appears in the ’Golden Age’ expansion pack.
In Nagapon society, the Queen’s daughters are ‘Princesses’ who each control their own army who tussle among each other for supremacy, if a Princess or her clan is seen as being too weak the other Princesses will remove her from the competition for the crown by force.
Nagapon Princesses rarely survive the ordeal, as her sisters pillage her armies for soldiers and supplies, they dispose of the defeated Princess along with her royal retinue (the most loyal companions). If her royal retinue defends her well, they may be able to sneak her into Loria, where she lives in exile.
Most attempts to save a doomed princess are folly and her retinue fight to the last man, going down side by side with their princess. In rare occasions, after taking a mortal wound and waking up days later, buried in rubble, swept away by a current or some other suitably dramatic way (that’s up to you and how you RP your character), a member of the retinue will survive and their princess will not.
Alone and devastated by the loss, lone Nagapons become Ronin: Royal Guards who have lost their masters and wander the world in search of purpose, some seek redemption, some revenge and sometimes peace. But since they have no cause to fight for, they have no reason to fight ponies, who are usually suspicious of them and they cannot enter cities without arrest, but otherwise tolerant of their existence. They eke out a living as wandering mercenaries, using their superior strength and overwhelmingly powerful combat abilities to slay Monsters until they find a cause worth living for.
