Smolder is a young dragon from Dragonheart, Capital of the Dragon lands as of Princess Ember’s reign. Her time there way often spent in combat or competition. A dragon’s way of life is centered around those two activities, and up until she was ordered to go to Equestria, hers life fared no different. What differentiated her from the rest of the horde was her self taught swordsmanship. There are quite a few dragons that are just small and take a long time to get any bigger. The dragoness tries to overcome her own shortcomings by giving herself more reach with a weapon. She also has her own claws and dragon’s breath as well, and Smolder is more than happy to use them.
 
The young dragon is under orders to attend to school to show the power of dragons, but her reluctance to be a student was palpable to say the least. The only courses that were worth her time, in her opinion, were the physical education and combat classes, and even then they were so tame compared to what she experienced in her years ago. They’re the only classes she’s guaranteed to not skip since her teachers have shown her just how strong they are in sparring. Even though the combat mostly focuses on defense, its still the most engaging for the dragon.
 
It’s been very important to Smolder to appear as tough as possible. She’s been raised to show dominance since that’s the only way she knows how to express herself. With the friends she’s made attending the school, especially among the international students, the young dragon realized that she doesn’t have to exclusively enjoy tough things. It came to a head when she had to confront her own feelings that go against her upbringing during a certain trial she and her friends were forced to take.
 
Over the course of first year, she begins to give up on her attack first, ask questions never way of thinking. Learning that working with others, even if it means not being the vanguard, is something she lacked due to only knowing dragons all her life. She’s not the brightest of the bunch tactically, but Smolder could make some rather precise strikes even before taking the courses at the Friendship School.
 
Draconic Longsword - A blade of unknown origin from the dragonlands. The hilt was modified to resemble the Bloodstone Scepter as a gift from the Dragon Lord Herself. Its unique coloration is due to Spike tempering the blade and adding a very Spike-esque touch. A veritable symbol of Equestria-Dragonland relations
 
Purple Anklewarmers - Simple Anklewarmers Smolder bought for herself as a small sign of being honest with her feelings. She is quite fond of the frills they have, and how they crumple up as she walks. The young dragon can sometimes be spotted nervously passing by clothing stores for ladies eyeing garishly pink versions of her current pair.
