I like to think the wonderbolts are the equivalent of the special forces for equestria
Best of the nation
Heck I know a rumor that celestia Loves to turn rude royal guards into maids for the cleaning crew so watch yourself!
Apologies. I figured since it was a comment all its own you were referring to me and my friend.
For the record, though, I don’t tend to get ‘bitchy’ when someone doesn’t like my work. There’s a big difference between just not liking and getting insulting about things. But even when someone openly insults me I don’t tend to get that way. The fact of the matter is, though, that this is a collaborative tumblr between me and my best friend. And when somebody insults my friends, then I do tend to get slightly defensive. Apologies for the misunderstanding.
I was originally referring to Braeburned when I said he can’t write worth a damn (and he’s openly admitted it). Though if you get all bitchy when someone doesn’t like your work, then maybe you’re better off leaving the internet.
“…the fact that he can’t write worth a damn.”
“…flagrant violations of canon always irk me.”
There’s no need to get insulting, and if you really get so bothered by our blog, then I ask that you just stop reading it. For both your sake and ours. No good will come of you getting annoyed by our work, and honestly, if you have no input or criticism to add other than just outright insults and whining about issues we’ve already addressed, then it doesn’t benefit us either. Therefore, to put it like Spock would, further interaction would be highly illogical.
I already said on a previous post that there was nothing “meant” by R63-ing Shining. The blog is a joke. It is meant to be humorous. We have nothing against Shining or male characters in MLP. Actually, Shining Armor is one of our favorite characters, at least conceptually. That’s why we made this blog. To have fun with the character in a way that would lend itself to a lot of funny hijinks and jokes and maybe even some emotional moments later down the line. This blog is meant for nothing more than shits and giggles. It’s entertainment, just like the show itself. Nothing more. To treat it as anything more would be foolish.
Honestly. It’s just a tumblr blog. If the show did it or the official comics did it or something like that, then I’d understand getting uppity, but if this sort of thing really bothers you so much, just go somewhere else. Nobody is forcing you to look at genderswapped Shining. And this fandom is so big that it can’t possibly be said that our comic is being forced upon you in any way.
Alright, let me just say this to see if I can clear this up. It’s always seemed pretty safe to assume that the Wonderbolts are, in some way, at least affiliated with the military. There’s been hints dropped all over the place, including the similarity to the Blue Angels, the fact that they were dispatched to stop Spike, the seemingly military style dress uniforms they occasionally wear, and the very military-esque way that the Wonderbolts Academy was run. Spitfire was very much acting the part of a drill sergeant in that episode.
Now, all this aside, yes, this has never been explicitly confirmed. As some of you have pointed out, there is some shakiness as to whether or not they’re really affiliated with the military. Military training doesn’t only last a week. There are no planes that need to be funded by a military for pegasi. You can nitpick all sorts of things that could suggest that maybe the Wonderbolts aren’t a part of the military.
And if that’s your headcanon, fine. But if you ask me, then it’s usually best to go by Occam’s Razor. The simplest explanation is usually the best explanation. There are so many big things that suggest that the Wonderbolts are a military branch, that it is the simplest explanation. And to bring in all the little nits and gaps in logic only muddies the issue and makes things confusing.
Like I said, if your headcanon is that the Wonderbolts aren’t military, then that’s fine. Mine and Atomic’s is that they are. Neither has been explicitly confirmed, so both are pretty much valid.
I do ask that you not let that one little comment outright ruin the tumblr/strip for you though. Seriously, this isn’t a big issue. Everybody’s entitled to their own headcanon, and you’re bound to bump into opposing headcanons when you traverse tumblrpon or fanfiction or just about any fan work. If you let every single opposing headcanon drive you into a tizzy, then you’ll only give yourself an upset stomach.
Spike’s breath usually burns things. Only the scrolls go to Celestia.
Assuming they’d gone in with a plan, they might have had a chance. But all they did was start flying around him. They didn’t try to negotiate or herd him away from town, or get Rarity out of his tail. They didn’t have a clue, and started attacking him after he’d left town, and went after his frills rather than his tail, which might have made him release the hostage.
They were out of their depth against a guy that wasn’t even fighting back.
We’re having a rational conversation here. Don’t you worry.
@Sjogre
Seeing as Spike did not have wings, as all other adult dragons have, I think the “growth spur” he experienced didn’t let him develop those abilities. The only times he’s shown the ability to actually burn things without sending them to Celestia has been on accident, so I’m pretty sure he didn’t have fire breath as a weapon there.
Three wonderbolts against a lone, naturally grown dragon with wings and fire don’t stand a chance. But we might never know. Unless there’s a war shown in-universe, I don’t think we can confirm either of the theories.
Equestria’s air force would be the Royal Guard, since they are mostly pegasi and there are more Guardsponies than there are Wonderbolts.
the wonderbolts are the air force of equestria
The animations just don’t feel like taking the time to make a female royal guard double since they’re only there to be part of the background
the camp was.probably just try outs they get to real combat training once they past basics
And having major male characters in any part of My Little Pony feels kinda weird, but that’s more a thing for older fans.
Honestly, I have no idea why so many fans have such a strong bias towards male characters. Seeing as how most of them are likely males themselves, you’d think they’d welcome them.
@ Silent_Witness
Given how horse society works, there are probably too many males. Adult males rarely tolerate other adult males, and horses are led a boss mare than controls a group of mares with a single stallion in it.
Even interpreting the Royal Guard as a giant formalized bachelor herd, there’s kinda a lot of them.
Oddly enough, that would make Spike the male for the mane’s group. I guess that he has a better chance with Rarity than it looked like.
