Nicknames: Smokey Q, Lil’ Q, Big Buff Coco Puff

Personality/Background:

Boisterous, energetic, and determined to a fault, Smokey is Limestone’s only daughter and her only offspring able to cope with the rough, soul-breaking farming. Even as a foal, a lot of responsibility weighed down on her ( at the time) tiny shoulders, and she quickly learned the meaning of hard work. Not that she minds, since smashing rocks is her passion in life. Because Smokey spends most of her life working, she doesn’t have much time to leave the farm and make friends that aren’t related to her in some way. Should she ever meet a stranger, it shows in her overbearing, brutally blunt manners-or lack there of. It doesn’t help that she’s not the sharpest knife in the crayon box.

Although she comes off to most as this giant bulldozer, at her core, Smokey is actually a sweetheart- it’s just hard to see past her rambunctious, passive-aggressive tendencies at first. Unlike most of her family, Smokey’s prone to softer emotions, like sadness, sympathy, and even compassion. However, growing up in a family of repressed caring kept her from learning how to properly function as a loving being and her attempts at kindness sometimes comes across the wrong way. Still, Smokey tries her best to remain optimistic. After all, when you live on a bleak wasteland, the only way to keep sane is to keep your chin up and clutch any glimmer of happiness you’ve got.

Relationships:

  • Smokey’s been a Daddy’s girl from the moment she head butted his jaw and dislodged a tooth after only walking for two minutes. Bulk’s always been there for her, especially when he helped get her through the awkward stage of adjusting to her growing strength and size, mostly through weight lifting exercises and yoga poses. Smokey finds a confidant in Bulk because of this- and also because if she wants comforting, the only pony with an ounce of sympathy in them is her Father. Since they’re busy schedule farming and what not most of the time, these two have fun together when ever they can, even turning chores into completions or games, to the annoyance and secret amusement of Limestone.

  • Limestone has a rock solid relationship with Smokey, and it’s no surprise why. She’s is the daughter she always wanted; strong, work-driven, and loyal to the family way. From a young age, Limestone drilled into her impressionable daughter how ‘things are done around here’ and just as Limestone intended, Smokey eagerly obeyed her mother’s every word as if it was a sign from above. Although some blame limestone’s controlling ways, Smokey genuinely does it for the sake of pleasing mother and making her proud. Considering Limestone is constantly bragging about her to her sister’s and gives Smokey the rare moments of praise, I’d say she’s succeed. These two don’t do much besides work together, which counts as spending quality time together for them.

Special:

  • Smokey cannot sing to save her life, which isn’t hard to believe considering her Dad sounds like a megaphone 24/7 and Limestone has a voice that makes paint peel. From this messed up pile of genes, Smokey got a booming, deep voice of whale that was chucked in a blender with a bucket load of gravel. Any singing she tries sounds more like a Off-key motor truck screaming for help.

Same goes for cooking- but you can’t really blame her, since the only thing they make on the farm is rock related.

-Most of Smokey’s hobbies are rock related ( big surprise), but she does have a few that aren’t, such as home and silo repairing, sculpting ( which she’s horrendous at but loves it anyway), and talking to the stars at night.

  • It’s a well known fact that Smokey is a mare of little fear, except when it comes to insects. Despite their being very few winged pests on the desolate and forsaken rock farm, just one of those creep crawlies is enough to send Smokey screaming like a filly in a panicked run for the nearest blanket. It doesn’t matter how many times Limestone tries to rationalize with her that bugs are mostly harmless and that she’s a bazillion times bigger them, she continues to turn white as a sodium chloride at the sight of one.

  • Smokey relishes family reunions and holiday ‘parties’, as it’s her only chance to hang out with other foals. Not that she really knows what ‘hanging out’ means, as her idea of fun includes sledding down canyon walls and crashing into rock piles. She scares half of her cousins and the other half she gets along with semi-well, with her cousin Caramel Bell being the closest to a bestie.

  • As foal, Smokey spent most of her time being supervised by her Grandparents, both of whom she loved dearly. Although, it was and even still is hard to understand Grandstallion Igneous’ long, boring way of talking. Still, Smokey revered him as all-knowing and did her best to learn his lectures on traditions and metaphorical moral lessons. She has an easier time bonding with Grandmare Cloudy, especially since she’s the one who taught Smokey how to read and write, as well as crotchet. As for the aging couple, Smokey is their pride and joy in their old age. If only the same could be said for her rebellious, disappointing brother.
