“Don’t want to know my darkest lowsMy blackest pitch, murder of crows”
Astoria Moon – Nickname(s): Astoria Gender: Genderless (He/Him) (Perceived as a stallion by ponies and a doe by changelings) Parents: Princess Luna and Queen Chrysalis
Residence: Canterlot/Crystal Empire Talent: Dream magic and clairvoyance Occupation: Prince and Heir to the Lunar Throne Siblings: None Friends: Indigo Gale, Atlas Jubilee – Background: Astoria was the product of political convenience, but neither of his parents have any less love towards him for it. After the changelings as a whole pledged their allegiance to Equestria, Luna and Celestia sought out Chrysalis, who at the time was lone rider causing trouble wherever she was able, in order to at the least forge a truce with her. Chrysalis is a very powerful magically force even on her own, her magic is similar to Discord’s in quality. After some discussion between the sisters and Chrysalis an agreement was made: Chrysalis would abide by certain rules that would prevent her from causing too much destruction, and in exchange she would have some influence in the royal household. While Chrysalis herself had no interest nor the aptitude for engaging in the politics of it all, she told the two that she would agree to the terms IF they would agree to raise a child between her and one (either, she wasn’t picky) of the sisters as one of their own and give the child a position and title within the royal family. The two sisters agreed, much preferring that to Chrysalis herself being involved with royal affairs. Even if Luna and Chrysalis have very little in the way of their relationship with each other they both love their son to the fullest extent, although this love is certainly expressed differently. Astoria spent the majority of his childhood living with Luna in Canterlot, but because most of his summers were spent with his other mother his relationship with Chrysalis was and is still equally as strong. Maybe Chrysalis originally intended Astoria to be her pawn alone, but from the moment he hatched she was uncharacteristically taken with the tiny grub. In the end Chrysalis was more at the whim of Astoria. Her relationship with him has had a markedly positive effect overall according to Luna and Celestia, it’s mellowed her out a lot and now the only time she’s really dangerous is when she feels like her precious son is being threatened in any way. Astoria has a tough time fitting in with Canterlot royal society for obvious reasons, if his appearance doesn’t scare others off then his eccentric personality usually does the trick. It doesn’t help that he’s very powerful magically but his control over his own abilities leaves a lot to be desired. He also has the gift of sight, or in layman’s terms he can see the future. However, these visions are often unclear or misleading, and his attempts to use this gift for good often don’t end well due to the murkiness of his visions. Personality: Enthusiastic, kinda weird. He’s very open and seemingly confident, but internally he’s actually fairly self conscious. He has a penchant for the dramatic, and sometimes doesn’t know how to moderate his expressive nature. He’s generally kind, but he did inherit a bit of both of his mother’s short tempers. As a young filly he was quick to trust others, but over time the false kindness of others wore this quality away completely, or at least he’d like to think it has. In the end he still tends to assume the best of others, even if he denies it. Astoria is fiercely loyal to those he trusts and loves, but his opinions of others can turn very quickly if he finds out they’re untrustworthy. He tends to make quick and dramatic choices and often has trouble seeing and understanding grey areas. Notes:He’s completely hairless and his skin is more the texture of a snake’s belly than a ponyHe loves bugsHis horn is hollow and filled with an acidic liquid that’s involved in his magic, he’s also able to turn his spit acidic in self defense (this doesn’t change its appearance, his drool always looks like it does in the image)His appearance is stranger than the combination of both his parents would warrant because of a family curse from Chrysalis’s side (which is why Chrysalis is unable to take a “reformed changeling” form..I will write more of this at a later date but I have a whole story planned out wink wink)He can close his upper eyes (and often does, having four eyes tends to make other ponies nervous) and when he does they just look like eyebrows. When they’re open they kinda warp like eyebrows too, but again, that looks weird. “Feels far from home close to the veilGoodbye mother’s fairy tale”
