The episode predictability was. But meh, there’s much worse.

The way I see it: The biggest complaint about Rainbow Dash is that she can be a total jerk. She’s less of a jerk when it comes to Scootaloo.
 
So if they can continue this relationship, then Rainbow Dash can get some good character development and gradually become more mature.
 
Though I still want her to be a little self-centered, since she wouldn’t be Rainbow Dash otherwise.

That’s literally the number one complaint about anything ever in this show, I’ve noticed. “X isn’t developed enough!”

Whoever said that they’ll avoid her background if she’s an orphan was right.

Implying that’s a bad thing.  
And since Scootaloo is an RD-fangirl who (apparently) has no siblings of her own (and the fact that she’s the best friend of the younger sisters of two of Dash’s friends), it was kind of obvious that RD and Scoots were going to be close one day.  
I’m more surprised that it didn’t happen earlier.

It actually stems from comment(s) Lauren Faust made that she personally characterized Dash as not being the best big sister-type. Faust meant she’d probably do something like casually mention Scoots still wets her bed or something, but, of course, this was exaggerated into outright abuse and negligence.
 
And I guess it’s changed into an outlet for absolute hatred against a small colorful equine who’s occasionally mistaken for a fowl. :/

It gave folks what they wanted, more like. People wanted a Scootaloo episode since forever.
 
I personally thought it would make Rainbow Dash out to be more mean-spirited than she was, given her track record in Season 2, but the episode turned out to be better than I hoped for.

cuz she’s not real and as fictional character you do whatever to her because no one is really getting hurt.
