And this marks the next wit about this picture for me: The calla lily – and as you point out correctly – is not a true lily. It plays well as a fitting allegory in the misleading and obsolete discussion about the preference of Rainbow Dash.

This is fitting because Rainbow Dash is a simple kind of pony who would appreciate a simple looking flower.
 
(Besides, this isn’t even a lily. Zantedeschia Aethiopica belongs to the order of Alismatales, not Liliales.)
