But a better metaphor is if you tried to cheat at a sporting event using steroids, but whoever gave you the steroids mixed in some PCP.
You’re still a dick for cheating, but it isn’t your fault if you attack someone due to being given extremely dangerous drugs without your knowledge or consent.
The amulet dealer, on the other hand, should never have sold Trixie the damn thing if he knew it corrupted its user.
As a result, a person with a gun is more likely to decide to kill someone than a person without.
This is especially prominent in environments/cultures where gun-related murder is considered a badge of pride or status (“I put a cap in yo ass!”).
Also, weapons don’t corrupt people, but they give to any stupid fucktard the ability to end another life just pressing a motherfucking button.
So, no, no weapons, no magic, no artifacts or powers for anybody. If you wanna do something, broke your fucking back for it.
I’m crabby in the morning. Does that mean morning corrupts me? No. Nobody is corrupted by power. Power doesn’t corrupt. If someone gets meaner when they have power, it’s because they WANT to be mean, but lqck the power to do so.
If the Gun could see what you were doing and whispered to you.
“Those guys are jerks! Their being terrible to you! Really you should do something about it. If you don’t they’ll do something about it. Maybe beat you up! They could even kill you! It’s not your fault. You’re just defending yourself. No body will blame you! Heck, those people are such jerks I bet they don’t have anyone who will miss them when they are gone. You are doing the world a favor! Do it! Pull the trigger!”
Guess what.
Still not pony related.
And you know what else?
….they don’t. Both are just tools. The onus is still on you, the individual.
However, a gun =/= magical amulet. The amulet is more comparable to the Ice King’s crown from Adventure Time in that with each use it corrupts the user in some way. I suppose you could compare it to a gun if one hesitated in shooting someone, but ultimately decided to do it anyway. Afterward, they might be tormented by a nagging feeling if they should have done it, but if they end up doing it again and convincing themselves that these people deserve it, it could in a sense “corrupt” them by their mentality changing so that each subsequent shooting is easier.
As for weapons in general, yes, people have done killing sprees with knives in the past, but it is so much easier with guns, especially the bigger the ammunition capacity so you don’t have to reload for some time.
That’s why I advocate what I call “bullet control” (yes, like the Chris Rock skit but implemented in a more serious way), guns with smaller ammo clips for civilian use instead of outright bans.
If you were using an Alicorn Amulet, however, and did bad stuff, it wouldn’t really be your fault. You’d still be a sympathetic Unicorn who I will defend to the end. I SAW YOUR METAPHOR!
