As for them being all earth ponies, allow me to suggest that they also have buraq. The Quranic description of them, from the Wikipedia translation, is:

So they’d be groundbound but the wings would be some sort of speed booster.

Fatimare seems to be gaining some popularity among some fans, so maybe I should also stick to that name.
 
@Frels: I know bro, I also expected the fandom to give them names quickly, I even try to contribute, but sometimes one doesn’t get what one wants.
 
@BP: I like to think quite the contrary, that ponies evolved from this horses thousands of years ago, just as I think ponies IRL are a subspecies of horses (don’t know if that’s completely correct but well)

Fatimare is pretty cute.

Perhaps they were a group of ancient earth “ponies” that migrated another direction far away from the wrath of the windigo’s and found refuge that has since become similar to that of the middle east. But they were genetically isolated so they didn’t really change much over the last several thousand years. Certainly at least not developing the stocky, neotenic traits of equestrian pony-folk, which perhaps is indicative of the survivors of that period and why they have a great fondness for snow even if they can remove it at will.

@romantiC, Zecora used to mean zebra in the Oromo (an East Africa) language.

Also, they probably don’t have to be Arab names or puns. I mean, Zecora’s name isn’t anything special.

Arab names can be complicated and difficult to remember, not to mention there’s a lot to choose from

…HOW DO THEY NOT HAVE NAMES YET!?!?!?!?! BRONIES! YOU HAVE LET ME DOWN! There has to be at least one kid from a Middle Eastern family who’s good with puns it this fandom somewhere, we’re too omnipresent to not have a few such overly-narrow specific members by now.
