The Alicorn Amulet glows whenever Trixie uses magic because it’s amplifying her magic and further corrupting her, Celestia and Luna’s collars don’t glow when they use magic because that’s all they are, fancy collars.

They’re alicorns and very old. Even without the necklace they’re probably quite strong and capable.
