“Thanks for taking me shopping, Prince Philia! Mama, Papa, Prim, and Windy are gonna love their presents!” Angel bounded out of the store into the snowy streets of Canterlot, with the changeling prince not far behind.
”It’s good to hear you’re satisfied,” Phil remarked. “I am sure your family will take pleasure in these gifts you’ve purchased. If you wish, I will escort you home and assist you in hiding them.”
Angel beamed and began flittering towards her family’s mansion. “I’d love that, Prince Philia! You’re the best!”
Phil nodded in appreciation and followed the little filly towards her home, a cluster of shopping bags in his magical grasp. Once they arrived outside the entrance, he put the bags down at Angel’s hooves. “Your parents are likely waiting for you. The window to your room is open; you can fly in and hide the gifts without anypony knowing.”
The changeling watched as the filly flew her bags up to her room one by one, taking care not to break the expensive, delicate trinkets inside. However, he was surprised as she flew back down to him even after putting away the last bag; in her hooves was a blue, slightly haphazardly-wrapped box.
”Poison Sweets told me Santa brought you coal last year,” Angel explained. “I don’t know why, you’re my best friend! So I got this for you.” She held the box out to him.
Phil was at a loss for words as he began to take the gift, a rara occurrence for him. “A-a gift…for me? You really didn’t need to-“
”Everypony deserves a present on Hearth’s Warming!” Angel interrupted. “Why would you be any different?”
Unable to protest, Phil cracked a small smile and accepted the gift. “Thank you, Angel.”
”Angella Belle Femme! Where are you?” A voice called from inside the mansion. As eager as she was to see Phil open his gift, Angel knew she had to go. “Papa’s looking for me. Happy Hearth’s Warming, Prince Philia! I know you’ll love your present!” She pulled him into a quick hug and then trotted into the mansion.
”Happy Hearth’s Warming, Angel,” Phil uttered after her. He then looked down at his gift. She had actually…thought of him. Nopony outside of his family had ever done that before. What he felt was new, but pleasant: true Hearth’s Warming cheer. A soft smile crawled across his face as he began to unwrap the gift.
