Phil tugged at his bunny suit, sweating profusely and glancing around to see who was watching. “Shelter, was it necessary for us to do this? The children would have been completely satisfied with you alone.”
”Yeah,” spat Minstrel. “Someone has to stay home and watch the house!”
”Minstrel Custard Drops!” Shelter scolded. “I know full well what you would have done if you stayed home! And you too, Philia Agape Armet!” She turned towards her other husband. “Do you remember what happened last year?”
Both stallions avoided eye contact with her. “Yes…”
”Good. I’m sure you boys have learned your lesson,” Shelter nodded in approval, pulling her husbands in for a hug. “Now let’s go celebrate Nightmare Night! Together!”
As Shelter trotted onward to the festivities, both of her husbands slunk back in embarrassment. Out of the corner of his eye, Phil swore he could see a familiar shape in the bushes, surely laughing at his misery. He would have a lot of explaining to do the next day…
