Actually, Horses can’t really digest meat. Most grazing animals can’t. The reason that sandwich is there is because the artist just made a slip. Don’t know what’s with the pigs, though. Garbage disposal maybe?

True for real life ponies, and many other herbivores. The reverse applies to most carnivores. A good majority of animals are circumstancal omnivore, it’s just a matter of what kind and how much of the opposite category the can stomach if they really have to.
