well you’re not wrong.
but I’m pretty sure it would be much harder animating a show then drawing a comic.
also it’s the exact same thing in all 4 panel
The exact same pose, angle, and details with the only difference being what scale you copy/pasted the image in each one without an iota of animation or change?
I mean, if they were petrified by a cockatrice I’d understand. But that’s a pile of animals that doesn’t have so much as a single twitch of life between one panel and the next. It’s literal copypaste, with nothing actually drawn other than the initial furry pile. There is no reaction from the animals, no facial changes, and nothing that gives it any difference from a piece of cardboard you could tap and knock over. Even with the show using the same models, they’re animated and lively, moving from scene to scene even when re-used. This provides all the liveliness of a bowl of fruit in a still life study.
That is D-grade webcomic work, not professional comic book artist work.
FFS man I thought the laziness accusations were a meme.

What’s weird is that they’re agreeing to make Hanazuki comics, but probably are going to go the Littlest Pet Shop comic route with them.
Some panels don’t even have the gradient color that became his usual excuse to avoid drawing backgrounds.
Fosgitt is notorious for using such things specifically as ways to “phone it in”, like being caught using clipart for cutie marks. He wastes no time drawing actual comics when he can be doing commissioned work for more money instead, and if it was any competent editor (Curnow is not, this is the guy who couldn’t even catch slapping Twilight’s cutie mark on the wrong character the last time Fosgitt did a full story) he’d have been fired for not actually doing work.
Seriously. Point me out another IDW series that shows this little effort in artwork or editing. I’d be surprised they allow anything this poorly made for anything else they currently license, because it’s pretty frickin’ obvious that they’re sabotaging their own best-seller in an effort to not do comics they hate having to publish to keep the ones they do want to make (read: anything not having to do with girly pony “crap”).
I’d have more sympathy for a pressed schedule of his if he didn’t post that he’s done a whole comic in four days before.
He must be running on fumes a lot then since this is just another item on the array of his laziness.
He could have also had a pressed schedule too. (It’s probably why both he and Fleecs use digital cutie marks at times, simply because its faster to finish).
No question, I agree the quality would be much better if each use was uniquely drawn even if to try to look the same (I’m reminded of the Rarity/Babs Seed FF that started with two repetitions of SB falling out of bed, but shown to be subtly different). But it’s not like it is “OMG comic sucks, into the trash it goes”-type quality failing.
Making excuses for laziness doesn’t make this okay. But it is just a filler comic before they get back to the main arcs, so who cares I guess. Certainly not the editor.
If Angel’s pose remained unchanged, then you might have a point.
(Not trying to be an apologist for Fogsitt here - he has good points, he has bad points, but this seems to be a really unwarranted complaint for this particular case)
