Twylight was wrong to yell on a baby. She upset her and nearly gave her PTSD. And nearly convince little kids to do the same. And she’d neglect the baby all day, mroe concenr about the hospital and ehr petty ego than her niece. If she’d resit ehr arrogance, zero of the chaos Flurry done come to be.
Damn straight.
I know it’s the opposite of his point. I’m being facetious.
That’s the exact opposite of what BP was putting forth, though. Yelling at and punishing a baby doesn’t work because they aren’t super intelligent. That’s also why they’re incapable of understanding the consequences of their actions. The individual ultimately responsible for Flurry’s misgivings is Twilight. It was her fault for attempting to multitask instead giving Flurry Heart the attention she needed as an infant. Admittedly, the verbal apology was likely more for us the audience than Flurry, but the point of it still stands. Twilight needed to realize the mistake she made.
I agree. Babies aren’t super intelligent, which is why Twilight shouldn’t have apologized. Apologies are wasted on babies. It’s also why I support Twilight yelling to get through to her.
I agreed Flurry needed to be stop. However, Zharkaer is right. Flurry is only a baby. You can’t punish a baby. Babies are simple-minded, they don’t know how the world works.
Strong powers =/= Super intelligence
Besides Twilight volunteer on taking care of Flurry, plus she puts a lot of things before the baby. Babies need attention and care. Twilight is responsible for her duties, NOT Flurry. A baby can’t do duties like a grown-up like Twilight, again super abilities isn’t the same as maturity and intelligence. Babies aren’t aware of right and wrong until their care-taker helps them out.
I see. Thanks.
It’s not outright stated, but in the Journal of the Two Sisters Luna mentions that she and Celestia had received education from Alicorns, and also recalls times when the two ran and flew in the hills of Canterlot. The sisters were also approached by Star Swirl and other ponies because they were Alicorns.
Celestia and Luna were born alicorns? I thought they became alicorns with the help up Starswirl the Bearded. (I haven’t read any of the books or comics.)
Especially considering she’s only the third pony in Equestrian history who has to discover their destiny as a pony (get a cutie mark) and their role as a princess of Equestria (Princess of…) at the same time.
Also, based on the Journal of the Two Sisters, Flurry won’t reach that milestone for decades, what with natural alicorns aging at a different rate.
@BigBadSeed
I doubt she’ll get older, the CMC, and such don’t. Still, it’d be interesting to see what she’d be like if she became the CMC’s age.
That would certainly be interesting to see. I know I wouldn’t mind something like that.
Edited
Absolutely. I actually look forward to seeing Flurry Heart grow up (assuming these characters ever age), so we can see the other characters interacting with her in different ways, teaching her important lessons, etc. It could be really cool.
When Flurry is slightly older, yes. At this point, though, trying to teach her anything of that complexity would be a waste of time; since she lacks the ability to show forethought, she wouldn’t be able to fully metabolize something like that.

A baby’s sense of right and wrong is pretty self-centered: seek pleasure avoid pain. Therefore, an effective way to get a baby to stop what they’re doing and teach them not to do it is by speaking to them harshly and making them feel bad, which they should. They may not realize that what they did was wrong in the way that you and I would, but they’ll avoid doing it again.
Obviously, you can’t have a logical discussion on ethics with a baby, but at any rate, Flurry Heart needed to be stopped.
Edited
So shouldn’t Twilight teach her?
That she hardly knows any better.
So what ARE you saying?
She shouldn’t be allowed to do those things in the first place.
