Okay, before people start screaming out “Look out, Mordecai! Discord’s behind you!”, let me explain that that image of Discord above is simply Mordecai picturing Discord as an object of evil and darkness…and being a jerk.
 
Well, a lot of you already know that, thanks to Twilight Sparkle, Mordecai has become quite the intellectual type, having become interested in the work Twilight does as well as Equestria himself.
 
If you guys have read my MLP FIM cartoon crossover story “Chaotic Order”, you’d recall one scene between him and Princess Celestia about his decision whether or not to attend Twilight’s school in Canterlot, the Academy for Gifted Unicorns.
 
Okay, I know what you guys are going to say, ‘But he’s NOT a unicorn! He’s a bluejay!’ Well, as Celestia stated in chapter 1, he doesn’t need to be a unicorn to know he is gifted.
 
Yeah, the sun princess is giving him all the time he wants to make his choice, which he’s struggling with. Either not go to one of the best schools in Canterlot, or quit his slacker days of video games and barely working at the park.
 
After Twilight explained to Mordecai and others about the events from ‘Return of Harmony’, she gave him a copy of The Tale of Discord. Mordecai has read the book over and over, trying to figure out just how bad Discord was.
 
Well, after Twilight told him about how Discord kept invading her personal space and had ran his lion paw finger down her cheek THAT got Mordecai thinking Discord was pure EVIL.
 
This picture is also based on the conclusion to chapter 1:
 
Mordecai rubbed his blonde hair tiredly as he continued reading his Equestrian books. While everyone else in the house was asleep, he snuck downstairs into the kitchen for a snack and further his studies. A plate of cookies beside him, Mordecai’s eyes never left the words he read in a book he had started reading two weeks ago.
 
The Tale of Discord
 
It was the same book Twilight had been reading continuously after those events, and her friends were completely unaware that she was reading such a book. Luckily, she had two more copies in her library.
 
Mordecai had one copy, and Rocky had the other.
 
The bluejay knew Rocky could be trusted with this information, always been a sweet little girl in his eyes that held the same kind of attitude as Twilight. He hoped Rocky was learning as much about Discord as he was…
 
…and see how totally evil that creature had been.
 
“This Discord seemed like a total jerk…” Mordecai muttered to himself as he flipped another page.
 
“Mordecai?” Called a cranky voice.
 
The bluejay flinched before looking over to see Rigby walk into the kitchen, scratching himself tiredly while going over to the fridge. He opened its door and grabbed a jug of milk before chugging it, not caring that some of it spilled onto the floor.
 
Wiping his mouth, he placed the half-empty jug into the fridge before heading out of the kitchen.
 
“I said this before, and I’ll say it again,” Rigby muttered tiredly as he passed him on the way out. “You are such a schoolgirl.”
 
If you read the story all the way to its current chapter, you’d see how PISSED Mordecai is with Discord…especially when it involves Twilight.
