Ruby looks around for a potential pickpocketing target.

The filly spots a rather inattentive pony looking at some pottery from a nearby stall He is rather rotund and dressed oddly in a bright red shirt with white flowers, it’s pretty obvious he is a tourist. More importantly however his coin purse looks nice and fat, and is being held on his torso by a thin string.
Ruby follows this man for a while, waiting for an opportune time to strike. She gets her chance when the tourist stops to watch a juggling show on one of the street corners. The jugglers are quite good, and currently are juggling lit torches while balancing on big, multi-colored circus balls.

Ruby carefully removes the dull knife from her scabbard and approaches the tourist from behind. The knife isn’t that sharp, but luckily it cuts clean through the thin string and Ruby swings the heavy coin bag into a pocket before anyone can see. She then nonchalantly walks towards an alley she knows is usually deserted.
As Ruby walks towards the alleyway, she passes by the shop with the silk red dress. It costs 398 bits. One day it’ll be hers. Like, legitimately. She isn’t going to steal it, nor does she want too. Somehow it’d feel less special that way.
Ducking into the side street, Ruby hides between a wooden box and a trashcan and checks her haul. It contains a good twenty bits.
Nice!
