I wouldn’t go so far as to say they’re making her into a 2nd Twilight. Everyone loves canon Luna and personally I don’t see her as a nerd but she must certainly be knowledgeable considering she’s so old.

Well,I would like the idea more if Luna was portrayed differently in the show,but…she just simply doesn’t give me that impression.I mean in season one,fandom tried to make her a 2nd Fluttershy and now they are trying to make her a 2nd Twilight.
 
Why badass/confident/hammy/ Luna is not cool enough for them?
