I don’t think you understand how M:tG colors work; while she’s not the best example for black, it’s not for the reasons you stated.

Rainbow Dash doesn’t have a black bone in her body. Black values the self over the group. Dash is one of the most selfless ponies in the series.

I could see Dash as White/Red, actually.

Rainbow Dash isn’t primary Black. The only one that might be is Rarity, and I think even that is debatable. Rainbow Dash’s primary colors would be Red (so much passion and emotion) and White (She is very loyal). That said, she does have a splash of Black to her. There was that time she cheated during a race, and also when she let her fame go to her head to the point it was beginning to endanger other ponies.

Ok, hold up. The color you associate with RAINBOW Dash… Rainbow Dash, the pony covered in colors… is black?
Welp….

I don’t think that RD would really qualify as ‘selfish’. She’s arrogant, but I don’t think there’s ever been an episode where she’s put her own desires above that of her friends’ (unless you count that race in which she kept cheating).

I’d say a better fit for red, impulsive and aggressive. Having an ambitious goal alone doesn’t convey what this is getting at. Especially since she’s not, well, doing much to make it happen.

Rarity works just fine though.
