Foals! This is where Willow Wisp brought Night Cap. This is who was in the viewing area. The only ponies who weren’t helping with the controlled burn preparations were the town’s foals.
I believe the foals were the GM’s attempt to shame Night Cap into helping. This was supposed to be a campaign of heroes after all. Unfortunately for that plan, Night Cap does not possess shame.

He looks back at the trenches, all those ponies hard at work, together, contributing to something larger than themselves, all while knowing that their own numbers aren’t enough for the job. They’re in such need of help that they’re pressing outsiders into service. Can he really abandon them?
