Funny you mention that, part of me likes to think that Alicorns actually aren’t born with either wings or horns, and have to “earn” them somehow. So Blueblood, actually IS an alicorn like his relatives, he just hasn’t earned his wings yet. (He’ll get them when he, oh I don’t know, becomes a better person or something.)

Mommy issue would definitly be hilarious.
 
I imagine he is constantly seething with jelousy that his aunts and Cadence are Alicorns, while he is a mere unicorn. He’d be polite and servile while Celestia is talking to him, then get a massive rage face as soon as her back is turned.

Agreed, Trickquestion. He most certainly is an asshole, but much like Archer himself, he can be a competent (perhaps even extremely so) asshole.
 
Though, I like TheAbridgenator’s idea of Blueblood having mommy issues - let’s just assume that Celestia, being the leader of Equstria is his adoptive mother or something along those lines, and…

Just because he’s an asshole dosen’t mean he can’t be good at stuff, just look at House. He Cutie Mark looks like a compass on an old Timey sea map, so maybe Blueblood’s special talent is navigating, or even sailing in general?
 
I really think if he was as spectacularly unintelligent as most bronies make him out to be, he’d have a Diamond Tiara-esque Cutie Mark. Mark my words, this one has some hidden depths to him.
 
Dosen’t mean he’s not an asshole though.

@abridgenator, the cake-shield thing was selfish, but it was a knee-jerk reflex against a projectile, he could’ve grabbed it telekinectally yes, but so could Rarity or another unicorn, noone thought fast in that regard, and it’s rather firmly established in show that Celestia herself is the only character than gives half a fuck about the Elements of Harmony as objects of prestige.

I like the idea in theory, but remember, Archer is actually fairly competent at field work, whereas Blueblood is just generally fuckwitted.
 
Now, if Blueblood has any of Archer’s mommy issues, THERE is comedy gold. XD
