Kill off a team there are a thousand more. Kill ponies while they sleep set off explosives, poison food, all sorts of unconventional leaderless warfare. Drag ponies off feed on their love mounting disappearances.
 
The whole point is Equestria becomes a hell pit of mistrust and murder with no easy solution and no negotiation because they have the changeling mother.
 
The Mane Six just have to live with it after leaving the safty of Canterlot to try and defend their home in Ponyville disgusted how the nobility or government has pretty much abandoned the common pony outside the barrier.
