Description
an old relic from PB, that was really something that no one saw coming.

What resulted gave us a hot new babe and some oh-so-exploitable minions, but I can’t help feeling by making Cadence and Shiny useless, they kind of messed them up for future iterations. While in what I was expecting was Cadence would have gone into bitch-mode from Twilight messing things up with her OCD, and going all action-girl on the clones for ‘ruining her day’
The twist of the ep would have been she wasn’t bitchy normally, but as the alicorn of wuv she was built up on expecting a wedding as blissful as those she had been giving to other ponies. And now her childhood dream was crumbling before her very eyes thanks to one screwball unicorn. And that’s when she breaks down and calls it off and says it’s been ruined, when Shiny says he doesn’t care and they kiss and go ahead with it in the trashed hall, with about 8 or 9 clones of the mane six filling out the roster of wedding ‘guests’ who didn’t run away during the fighting.
The idea I was thinking of would be that the episode would have two lessons, 1: for Cadence to not build your expectations so high they are impossible to fulfill, and 2: for Twilight to learn sometimes taking initiative isn’t for the best. Ponies are used to listening to Twilight since she’s the brainy one, but she would slowly be botching the wedding because she would take an accountant’s/manager’s view of it. All business, no emotion, kind of unintentionally stepping on others hooves’ slightly disturbing them but not enough to raise their voices or talk back. (ala her management style in wrap-up/about time) That’d fit the “FiM” theme a tad better.
Blue eyes were quite obvious :)
On topic, I didn’t quite crack Mare do Well before the fairly obvious hints (especially purple magic aura and Mane 6’s teasing of RD). Fancypants did pleasantly surprise me, as well.
Of course, it became clear very fast Flim and Flam were villains, but up until the very end I expected Jubilee to drop in and fuck things up.
He’s classy, sophisticated and some people think he’s an awful person, but he’s actually a very sweet and generous person.
Oh, and I agree with Cherry Jubilee not being a jerk thing. When I first saw her art I assumed she would be some kind of jerk that was holding AJ to some kind of Draconian bet or something.
I wasn’t SURPRISED by it, but still.
The only part in the show that made my eyes wide open was Chrysalis’ intro.
Other then that, the rest I saw coming.
Didn’t expect the Mare Do Well twist though.
