Sony outlines seven upcoming indie games for PlayStation

PlayStation spent the morning giving in-depth details and sneak-peeks via the PlayStation Blog at a slate of upcoming indie games coming to the PS4 and PS5 throughout this year and the next.

Beginning with a preview of the VR title Moss: Book II, the publisher went on a spree, unveiling details and some release dates and windows for seven titles including Salt and Sacrifice and Hello Neighbor 2. PlayStation also revealed at least one entirely brand new game and gave updates on some titles that’ve been anticipated for some time. Altogether, the seven games made for an exciting and varied look at some smaller titles PlayStation fans will be able to play in the coming months.

Lets take a look at each!

Moss: Book II

Moss: Book II is coming this spring and has bigger rooms than the first title, allowing “expansive multi-dimensional puzzles and platforming challenges” that help emphasize the scale of the world. Smoother transitions have been added to make the world feel more connected and less jarring to move around and there will be replayable areas too.

Animal Well

Animal Well is a bit of a mystery. Not entirely survival horror, but not entirely a puzzle platformer either, it lies between these extremes and then some. From what little we know, it seems like a game deliberately built to be mysterious, vague and dense. According to the developer, the game’s being built with layers in mind, which will hopefully prompt players to deeply engage with Animal Well and figure out its countless mysteries. Animal Well is slated for release “later this year or early next.”

TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge

The fantastic-looking throwback Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles beat-em-up TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge is still coming later this year and the sixth character coming to the game is none other than Master Splinter. Everyone’s favorite rat dad is back and while he may be slower than his rascal kids, he packs just as hard a punch with his own unique moveset.

Post Void

Post Void is a bright and fast shooter with a retro aesthetic where you must essentially speedrun and blast your way through procedurally-generated levels with an impressive time and bodycount in order to make it to the end. Words do the look of this game a disservice, but you’ll be able to pick it up on PlayStation systems this spring.

Salt and Sacrifice

Salt and Sacrifice is the sequel to the hit soulslike Metroidvania Salt and Sanctuary and players were given an idea of the upgrades coming to PvP, which has only become more dynamic thanks to new tools, Runic Arts (think magical abilities) and new features like sprinting atack. The game releases on May 10, 2022.

Samurai Gunn 2

Samurai Gunn 2 is a one-hit platform fighter that recognizes half the appeal of the games is the roster you get to play as. This is why it’s all the more important that it was announced that the game was coming to PlayStation consoles with a slate of fighters that now includes “friend characters” like the crewmate from Among Us, Minit from…Minit, and Ana, the protagonist from Spelunky 2. Don’t worry, Samurai Gunn 2 is also releasing with a bunch of actual samurai characters as well as a greater story and adventure mode.

Hello Neighbor 2

Finally, Hello Neighbor 2, the sequel to that one game everyone’s kids or younger siblings played, is coming to PlayStation and is receiving a beta in April, which you can secure access to with a pre-order. The neighborhood is growing larger as players assume the role of a reporter investigating the disappearances of several folks around the entire town, including the original game’s protagonist. And yes, there are dogs now.
