“Seriously though, this movie has a bit of an identity crisis.
 
At times it’s really funny, enjoyable, and surprisingly likable, but at other times it tries to be heartfelt, dramatic, or downright weird (the guy “pooping” out the Flubber comes to mind), and it only comes off as awkward. It’s like two different people worked in it, most probably the studio and the director fighting over who was the one in charge.
 
But that really doesn’t matter because I kind of enjoyed the ride. Robin Williams proved once again that he was taken away from us way too soon, as he delivers a rather memorable and honest performance (he basically plays Robin Williams as a mad scientist, which is quite awesome) and the flubber effects are quite impressive. They are very cartoony but not cartoony enough that it makes them feel out of place.
 
It’s a bit of a mixed bag of a movie for me to recommend it, but I’d say give it a watch if you are a fan of Robin Williams. I enjoyed it for that fact alone.
