I also have a Theory, as of the Season 6 premiere, its Pretty clear, that celestia and Luna dont move the sun and moon with regular telekinesis, and since horseplay, its clear, that without their semblences, it would only take 6 unicorns of around twilights caliber to perform the same feat. So i think, that the equestrian solar System is its own System, and everything in it moves on its own, like some sort of cosmic engine, like a life sized Planetarium, and the spells the Sisters use, just send a Signal that activate the magic mechanism. Its basically the same principle as the suns song from oot, or when you use commands to Change the time of day in a minecraft Server. Good Thing, otherwise the storm king could have destroyed the earth with the wand.

As said before Luna probably doesn’t move all the stars of the night sky. The opening of the show merely said that she brought forth the night. That suggests that she just controls the moon and the moon signals the stars in the sky to come out, awake up, or whatever they do. Also given that four stars helped NMM escape and the Ursa Minor and Major, the stars in the night sky of Equestria might be living entities.

I knew what was coming and I still chuckled.  
And then the movie made it even bigger.

To be honest, it makes us feel all the more significant, that our precious little jewel could be so unfathomably tiny in the grand scheme of things. That our star, that feels so immense to us, could be a worthless speck before the might of Canis Majoris. And that Canis Majoris itself is no more significant.

Yeah, if Luna really did control things in the night sky, she’d really be at Yahweh levels of power. Entire galaxies can be seen in the night sky, such as the Andromeda galaxy in the Andromeda constellation. Luna having absolute control is unlikely, since she’d have to plan out the night sky several million years in advance, seeing light works.  
That or FiM stars aren’t the same as the ones in real life. Maybe they’re just glowy things stuck up on that big bluish black thing?

I doubt Luna commands the cosmos that thoroughly. That’s Creation God levels of power. I mean… That’s terrifying to think about. If anything, she just manipulates how they appear in the sky. Really, she’s an artist. Not an eldritch abomination.
