Disregarding the fact that even if took a while for them to burn down it wouldn’t change anything because Spike is immune to fire, and that the timberwolves would still eventually burn down and die, we’ve seen him use his fire to melt iron in two seconds, and a massive ice cloud in about four. You can’t seriously still believe his fire is normal.
But nah, lets just have him run away and throw rocks instead.
The timber wolfs seem to have green leaves growing out of them. That means the wood might be alive, and therefore wet. Wet wood doesn’t burn.
Spike didn’t forget… the writers did. Still wasn’t enough to make me hate the episode.
And Spike’s fire-proof. Just goes to show you how thoroughly Princess Celestia and/or Twilight Sparkle drilled into Spike’s head that “you shouldn’t use your fire breath unless asked to; it’s dangerous.” Kid’s too repressed to use it even when his life is in danger.
Then he would be chased by creatures made of rotten, burning wood.
And that fire could spread.
