Description
Fluttershy playing 40k with Tau.
“Your turn”.
There’s been a few differing opinions about which army would suit Fluttershy’s character, I just think the Tau’s good guy (at face value at least) attitude makes them the best fit.
Tyranids are another option. (Chrysalis has that one covered though, and I was trying not to repeat armies if I could help it).

Not had many ideas on these for a while. And they’re a bit of a pain to draw, mainly because of the detail on the miniatures.
No ideas on a Malal force.
To be honest, I’m lacking inspiration at the moment. Need to watch some more episodes, and Friendship Games. Might give me some ideas.
Harder really.
I’ve been painting 40k figures for close on 19 years now, (and I’m still only reasonably good at it- not a master painter but I’ve seen worse in tournament lists. Heck, I’ve seen worse in painting competitions!)
Currently trying to do a half decent paint job on my Forgeworld Konrad Curze figure. With the extortionate prices they charge, I want to do a good job on the Primarch figures.
Anyway, there’s so many little details on even the simplest figure that drawing them to be recognisable is difficult. Especially things like Tau battle suits!
My own favourite tactic with Tau (I play almost every army in the game), is to max out on fire warriors. Fielding 72 fire warriors all armed with pulse rifles is a cheap way to dominate the field. Dump a couple of rail gun equipped hammerheads, a command squad and a Riptide and watch the enemy force disappear….
Oh yes totally understand. I bet drawing them is just as hard as painting them.
My comment on the gun-drones was just a little joke about my play style… the drone bomb is a favorite tactic of mine.
I’ve found trying to draw a lot of figures on the table in these pictures is too time consuming, and unnecessary. The focal point of the picture is the pony, and what force they’re actually using.
On a side note, 40k stuff is actually quite difficult to draw compared to the ponies, due to more detail. That comic strip I’ve started (>>907169 page 1 and >>917807 page 2) is going okay so far (aside from a couple of minor glitches like Applejack looking a bit wrong on page 1), but the 40k parts of it are going to be more of a challenge to get right.
Just seeing those words makes my blood boil.
Old picture here. May try re-drawing one of these. This one’s an option.
Bit out of my range then…
Strangely, my daughter’s taken an interest in the game at the moment, so I’m playing odd games with her.
She’s only 5 though, so obviously the games I’m playing with her are very small. She doesn’t have the concentration span to play a decent sized game yet, although her methods are unusual for a young player.
A normal young player will just sit still and shoot your force, so Tau often are a good choice for them.
My daughter normally has half her army in assault by turn 2-3, whilst making a point of taking out anything that looks dangerous to her with her heavy weapons.
Not what you’d expect from a 5 year old girl.
Taking out a wraithlord with her chapter master’s power fist.
Or dumping the orbital bombardment in the middle of my infantry because it’ll kill more models.
If she keeps interested, she could be a serious contender in tournaments when she’s older.
I’ve not been lenient in the games either- it’s just not in my nature. Recent game saw her charge a 3 man bike unit at my chapter master (I was using my pony army).
She declined the challenge so I couldn’t kill her sergeant.
Instead I killed the other 2 bikers in the unit. I let her use ‘hit and run’ so her sergeant could retreat to fight something else.
So, rather than just leaving her upset, I made a bit of fun of what had happened.
“Get ’im lads!”
(Go through the motions of showing the commander screwing up both bikes and tossing them over his shoulder like a ball of waste paper).
“Ah… Erm… Bye!”
Seattle is my area of operation. Our Battle bunker shut down almost 3 years ago and the rest of the GW stores began falling like dominoes. Our local club has disbanded and the survival of the hobby is bleak.
My only acquaintances who still talk about GW are in Sweden, and all we ever do now days is play TF2.
If Eternal Crusade is as good as it sounds, then I might get back into the hobby.
Just out of curiosity, whereabouts are you?
I’m in northwest UK, and the nearest official GW stores to me are around 15 miles away, and in cities, so they’re normally busy (Manchester and Preston. Blackpool doesn’t take much longer to get to).
Luckily, my local club is only 3-4 miles from my home.
As I said, I want to avoid repeating armies.
The Necrons have already been paired with the Maud Pie.
Possibly.
Or maybe squats.
‘Remember the good old days kids….’
Or the bad days as the case may be.
Necrons would be more lulzy. Thunder armour marines are…. you can try?
What about Granny smith with some 1st/2nd Edition armies Like Preatorians or Old style Marines
Check the 40k tag….
Pinkie Pie would have to be the Orks, of course.
The other problem with the Tau Manta is that it’s around 2000 points to field it on it’s own.
This would have a SLIGHT impact on how often you could use it….
I think the main reason they did this is so they can sell more of models like the Baneblade and the new Knight class titans.
@Commissar Elusive
The new 7th edition rules haven’t changed much in the game.
The only real difference is the vehicle damage charts have been altered. It’s no longer possible to destroy a vehicle with one shot unless the weapon is AP2 or AP1, because a natural ‘6’ now immobilizes the vehicle.
There are other differences, but that’s the one that had the most impact.
At least they stopped the ‘glancing hits can’t destroy a vehicle’ thing from 5th. Damned annoying when a terminator squad with thunderhammers spends 6 turns battering a landraider and it just spends the whole game stunned.
While I won’t divulge tooooooo much, due to a certain company stationed in a certain part of Europe who makes a certain line of miniatures likely getting on my ass because of it, but basically, Lords of War are an official part of 7th edition, now. That means both you and your opponent are allowed one superheavy or gargantuan creature per non-Apocalypse army.
Hmm, I’ve yet to experience 7th ed, let alone read the new rules. All the GW stores around me have shut down.
Aren’t they tourney legal, now? Considering that LoW is part of the main game due to 7th ed.
