The Pellanic Republic, formed from the myriad city-states of the Pelaponies Penninsula, is the youngest independent nation on Gaia, formed from a mutual fear among the various Oreek City States about an invasion from Boletaria, after an angry mob in Sparta murdered the Boletarian envoy and his staff following the deaths of many Spartans at the hooves of the Boletarian-Gaelic Winter Guard.
 
In their nation-building, they established a defensive military, broken up into self-sustainable regiments of 200 to allow for independent guerrilla action in the event of an invasion. The three types of Pellanic troops are the Psilos (the light skirmisher infantry), the Hippeis (the artillery crews), and the Hoplites (heavy line-infantry).
