We need moar older not-dumb-and-boring Nyx. It was quite a chore and struggle reading through the childhood, but then it got better. I thought no one pony being at fault for anything that went on was kind of a cop-out though. As if the author backpedaled and decided religious fanatics couldn’t possibly exist in Equestria after all. The climax of the story turns out to be Nyx deciding to stand up to Nexus and save Twilight. The problem? There’s still like 22000 words left to go….agh.  
The middle part, the VERY middle part, was enjoyable, but unfortunately that’s the only part that is, and the rest laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaags like crazy.  
Real shame/waste of potential, I think most of the love for it is just that there’s not a lot of fics where NMM comes back as her own mare, she’s always still ‘evil luna’ even if Luna isn’t even a part of her anymore. Only seen two other fics where she gets her own personality, Temptress where she’s kinda like a christian devil analogue and trying to take over Twilight’s body, and Nightmare Woon which is Molly’s recent entry.

That story, for all its… I dunno, gave me lots of feels. And it annoyed me to no end at other times…

The ratings in EqD arn’t that helpful as you can’t change your votes back.
 
As a story’s quality can change over time a reader it isn’t hard to see people turn on a 6-star as it stop being good

I like these expressions. They make Nyx seem alive.

Hey, Sevireth, millions of girls loved Twilight. Millions of music listeners (although that’s stretching the term a bit) love Justin Bieber. Millions of Americans thought George Bush was presidential material.
 
Quantity does not equal quality, and Past Sins was not quality.  
So sit down, read a half-way decent author’s work, and learn the fuck up.

I liked past sins but felt it squandered it’s potential.
 
Not Pen Stroke’s best piece of work(Better Living Through Science and Ponies) but decent.
 
I do hope he uses this story as a learning experience.

Welp, 6-star rating means over 90% people rated it five star if I remember correctly, so you’re a stellar example of vocal minority.
 
Yeah, little things at right times would make all the drama not happen, but then what’s the point of having a story? A cop behind a corner at a right time would make Batman not happen.
 
Also, Nyx is an literal emotional infant and that’s a major plot point.  
It reminds me of all the nonsense argumentation that Celestia and Twilight were breaking character. Celestia doesn’t have a canon personality, while Twilight is facing problems of maternity at age 20 or something — prime character development territory. Yeah, Nyx acted stupid. She’s two months old.
 
Also, while I would usually avoid argumentation ad hominem, Kkat, the author of massively popular Fallout:Equestria, praised and personally recommended the story. Nothing personal, but I consider opinion of an actual author more valuable than of a random anonymous user.

I read it. I hated it. It was perhaps not badly written, but it had little to do with anything that could canonly happen, even IF there was such a thing as Nyx.  
Some simple sentences and less hiding Nyx from who she is would have made all drama not happen. Twilight should have told Nyx that she isn’t Nightmare Moon from the begin with. She is Nyx. Kind Nyx.  
She could have kicked Nexus to the moon as she was empowered over him, but decided to cry instead. She waited, until Twilight nearly DIED before she finally kicked in and got some brains.  
I simply see this as the Twilight saga of MLP. Many love the Twilight saga with it’s sparkly vampires. It has movies to it.  
Is it a good story? No. But people still squeal over the shit.

Nyx is hated because she’s popular, that’s the long and short of it. Any critism of the story is blown to ridiculous proportions.
 
Bad stories don’t live on. Saw any fanart of “spiderses” lately? Past Sins is great and most people who read it liked it, it’s rating on EqD is proof of that; it’s worth your time.

If she and the story were written in a way, that it was believeable, Nyx COULD be a good character. Sadly, the storys entirely ripped apart, because the author thought it was better to slip in death, drama and wierd, uncanon decisions from canon characters. Even after reading the damn story, I stand to that. Nyx is bad and past sins is bad. Though, I admit, this is actually a good drawing. Just the character it depicts is crappily written. And there you have your ‘Why u all hate Nyx’

I don’t know why everybody hating Nyx so much? I mean there is a lot of fan made characters out there so why hatin on pore Nyx?
